Bristol City or Rovers away?

Davva McCamm (PD) told me this tale!

Cannot remember where we had been that particular day, as always it was just about a group of lads from different areas of Sunlun pulled together to go to a match but more importantly was about having a great day and night out, if we got a result it was a bonus. Same old same old ........Sunderland.

Can't remember what game it was now. Thought it was a Lancashire game for some reason. The old grey matter is a bit flakey these days.

So is mine, so I may be wide of the mark!

Cracking story mind, no matter which game it was.

Oxford away was a couple of years earlier maybe even 75 !!

Haway Lads, what's all this about?

IIRC we ended up back in Micklefield N Yorks where we had stopped off a couple of times that season. Another great night, frisk with the locals and somehow ended up rampaging though this posh garden full of garden gnomes. Back in van on way home and everybody pissing themselves about the evenings events and we pull over to side of road, back door of van opens and a couple of the local constabulary pull us all out onto the side of the road in the middle of knowhere and start asking us questions about the events in the garden and how a number of garden gnomes had been stolen from the local mayor or councillors home. Obviously none of us had a clue about what he was talking about, one of the cops asked each of us our names and when he got to my bro @Monkey Hanger the question came what your name son, his middle name being Norton, the cop queried this and our kid said "like the fuckin motor bike", to which we were all wetting ourselves. The other copper was searching the van and could not find anything other than beer cans etc. After a while they let us free without charge and we all get back in the van and on our way home. First thing we find in the back of the van was a couple of garden gnomes. Fuckin blind copper or what LOL

By the way the driver of our van that night GV good old Doxy Park lad was the first sunderland fan though the door of the Waterloo that famous day in 79.

They were nice gnomes like:lol:

Other things I remember from Micklefield.....

"Mackie" Davison wanting to do a bit of "sparring" with one of the locals:lol: Tony Tumilty was always game as a badger for a bit of ring-craft too!

Me and "Geordie" Parkin getting off with a couple of the local tarts didn't help forge best relations with the locals either.;)

Master "Thomas" getting the old blokes wound-up in the pub by asking them the time in German - and then doing the goose-step a-la-Basil Fawlty

"Jock" Ewing getting upset with the barmaid as she couldn't understand his Glaswegian accent.:p

But Micklefield was a great little stopping off point, with a good little boozer and fish & chip shop. Funny as fuck each time.
