That was canny weird like. Pretty sure they said to us to have a good night. Those kids offering us a fight outside the pub. They were actually really polite when we declined![]()
Similar memories when my Mam's Newcastle supporting boyfriend took me to the Milk Cup final in 85 and we missed our coach home. 2 coaches left in the whole of Wembley car park and they weren't ours but one kindly let us on. Bizzarely caught up with our coach at Trowell services I think it was and hopped back on. What a shit day all round!!Remember going to Wembley in 85, bus broke down, me and my dads friend and his son were picked up by a Sunderland fan who was travelling down by himsel. Very kind of him I thought
Funny old day I was wasted and finished up being accused of throwing my Sunderland shirt on the pitch. I was trying to explain it wasn't mine. Straight away I was receiving text messages saying I was live on sky sports newsThose kids offering us a fight outside the pub. They were actually really polite when we declined![]()
Morgan freeman?Question 1. Yes he is from South Shields, his son is a Hollywood actor and has Porterfield as his middle name.
I'd be happy to do that mate, I have every respect for magcatcherhutch who helped me with tickets as a total stranger.
There are some great lads who lived through difficult times that modern supporters probably wouldn't believe.
I'm just pleased my sons don't have to go through what we did.
Mentioning the motorbike reminds me of when went to Oldham in the winter in the 70's , our bus was full so this lad followed our bus all the way to Oldham on his motorbike, poor bugger was hypothermic when he was peeled off his bike when we got there.
Might be different incident, but was it not a midweek game at Preston, and the late JH rode the bike, which he had nicked?
Definitely Oldham , coldest place in the country for football man.
Really? Looking back I wouldn't have missed any of it. Travelling to all the aways, usually on my own it was always an adventure, always a laugh and once I'd bumped into other lads I was never on my own. The number of 'strangers' I've drunk with and the number of times lads I didn't know saved me from get a kicking. Happy memories.

Reiver great thread brought back some memories I used to travel on Frankies late 70's 80's .The Chelsea match 85 I was on the tube that got attacked. What I'm looking for is has anyone got any photos of the Sunderland fans inside the ground. The reason I ask is someone told me there is a picture of me standing on the front fence it was in a fanzine /mag around 15 years ago and have never seen it.Has anyone got a copy? Peterlee/Horden/Easington/Blackhall and all the pit villages had there good share of nutters.
feb i hope will give good noticeWhen are you planning this
Some ginger lad starting on me at Colchester for asking some fans if there were any spare tickets going. Apparently I just was jumping some sort of queuing system that I knew nothing about...
He looked canny hard mind, would definitely have knacked me so I backed down very easily
Had a ticket for the home end, but the stewards let me in the away end anywayCanny day apart from the football bit
