One of my favorite away days memories is the mythical Maine Road match in 91. Was on a bus organized I think by Big Andy and Pell (?) from the Blue Bell. There must have been 65-70 crammed in on the way down, all pissed before it set off and almost dead by Ferrybridge services. After the match about 35 made it back before setting off and another 7-8 of them were nicked on the way up after the whole bus ahem emptied an offie in Chapel Town in Leeds

remember going back to loughborough after leicester match with gateshead lot when 2 blokes tried to run us off the road on bikes , 1 turned round came back up the hill and got turned over and gateshead lot only let him be when someone said his head had came off, only the helmet, various other scrapes over the years with the gateshead lads

Cant remember most of the names now but some of the Billingham lads that I sometimes travelled with in the 80's were certifiable. I was in my teens/early 20's and used to spend the days laughing so hard it hurt, getting lamped so much it hurt or running away so much it hurt

Went away with the Billingham lads a few times, but mainly it went off on their station after home games (70's/80's) when we played at home the same day as the boro & they would wait for the Darlo train coming in.... bassas :(

No, you misread the post.

Anyway, this is a thread about memories of SAFC characters ..... what's yours?

Already said, the lad down Wimbledon who nicked the police bike. About as good as it gets :cool:lol:

Some good flanny tales too, but just the usual, him v god knows how many

wallsend kevin travelled with gateshead for years ,, another big lad with bottle any gateshead lad will tell you ,

The most fanatical Sunderland supporter I've ever met comes from Gateshead. If SAFC are playing he's there, this includes pre season friendlies played anywhere in the world.
100s and 100s of us 70s 80s regular took 2 buses away from high street infact a bus every game at least great times ,,

Gan on Hutch man ;)
no names on here but one of them mid 70s v mags ran onto pitch and dived head first into leazes end dressed in a white boiler suit n red n white scarf on fact

People are posting honest recollections ..... calling them liars on here doesn't require any courage.

yeh it was our kid told me mid 70s about it a fatfield lad run into leazes end byself white boiler suit n scarfs

Fatfield lad must have been another time, the Ollie Burton game in 73 just after the cup final was one of Gateshead's finest GN

Why ffs ???????????

Scum games particularly at St James just bring out the worst in a lot of us, surely you know what it feels like ??

There was 2 on the bike, the lad on the back put the bus window out with a brick as they sped past.
We followed them into the nearby housing estate and found them just about to put the bike into a shed. They clocked us and the lad with the bike jumped on and tried to drive through us at 60 mph. TC caught him a beauty bang on the chin and him and the bike ended up in a heap.
