In the spirit of these posts, and a story I've told before on here, a memorable occasion was when we crossed paths with the Chelsea Headhunters in the Roker Hotel. Cant remember the year but it must have been 1986 or 1987. There was 5 of us and we bumped into about 10 0f them.

Kevin or Mackie from Hexham was raging because the same people (he actually recognised two of them) had attacked him along with women and kids on the tube on the way to Stamford Bridge for the semi-final in 1985.

They were sitting in the Roker Hotel with their feet on the table laughing arrogantly when we arrived.

Mackie told us to leave to even up the numbers. 10 onto 3.

I've never seen 10 people take a worse kicking. The bar staff were intervening to save them.

I'll never forget that tube journey or the whole day.

How someone wasn't actually killed is still a mystery.

i was with him ...nothing happened that day bar he told half the bar to leave most did i kept mackie cool as he hated them after what went on down london it was iffy that day cant deni it but headhunters or swarmy gits i call them bottled it big style and left with a lone bobby ...but i know they went in other times so must have been one of them ...

I went in with a couple of mates after the game, the place was rammed with the bastards some big twats as well. All the coaches were lined up along the sea front had a couple and left.

Friggin hell, how tough was this fella ???

When your bored sometime ask me for the tales of Eastville, think we went there twice, both eventful. As a starter, first time there Sheff & me in their end at about 4am, it got paint sprayed with SAFC all ower. They were not impressed later in the day ;)

& once at City & on the bus to Temple Meads after the game, full of their lot going to look for SAFC. When we pulled up I shouted & pointed down a street opposite the station, they piled off & me & Sheff trotted off in the opposite direction to the station. They reappeared when we were on our train & were not impressed when our little Cup Winners flag came out as we set off ;) ;)
I'm bored watching Spuds, so let's have your eastville stories.

Was that the one where the scaffolding poles were being thrown through the windows. Iirc 1980 0-0 draw.
Also that awful story about the lad that stepped out of the carriage to shout abuse and didn't get back on quick enough.Left stranded on station platform like Popeye Doyle in French connection and took a hiding.

Remember getting picked up by Frankies bus, usual place (Wentbridge Services, Donny), usual time (about 2am) but can't remember where to - for some reason got south coast in mind. On the way found out there was 1 lad onboard who didn't like football?? Turned out Frankie & others offered him a lift to their local chippy on the bus from the pub as pissing down (& he was well pissed). They'd only kidnapped him & he had to ring his missus & explain ;) . On the Sat night out ( somewhere) he was walking about with a woolly toy horse for his bairn!!! All a bit of a haze tbh, but the jist is right!!
could that have been brighton away one have the lads left the colliery inn ,thornley jumped on the bus expecting a lift to wheatley hill bus was going in wrong direction ,frankie and the lads would not let him off woke up in brighton, his son travels with frankie now

Wow! Cheers for that scan Shaun - that was my first experience of an awayday a few games into my first season. I was amazed at the turnout packed into Bootham Crescent and will remember Vic's late, late tap in for a yard or two as long as I live. I was hooked and now hundreds and hundreds of aways later I'm still addicted after 42 years. On the road. Being among our travelling support be it a huge turnout at Maine Road or a handful at Odsal Stadium is something I'd never tire of no matter how shit others perceive it.

Still seeing it through the eyes of that nine year old kid at Bootham Crescent. You never lose that. NEVER!

Some fantastic memories, stories, anecdotes and people. Cheers @Reiver

I still see the 70's and every first home game of the season I do a tour around the ground, a trip down memory lane.
