Dicks future in doubt again

I don't know Short from Adam so it's difficult to be sure, but if there's one type of person who is likely to come out and tell it as it is, it's a well-respected and experienced manager who could just tell him/us to fuck off at any given point and retire, and keep his good reputation completely intact.

It's a no lose situation for Advocaat imo, and it might be exactly what we need to find out exactly what's going on at the top of the club.

Absolutely spot on. Advocaat doesn't need this job, he is here because he wants to be for the moment at least. It understand Short will be frustrated by the millions that have been wasted, however to not invest now when we have a manager who I don't think would squander it might just be the point that finally makes our luck run out if we aren't careful.

Seen his press conference an you can see the go at Short while praising Congerton with the constraints he has to work under ...but Dick wants three players in... Said weeks ago .that Dick will walk and on the basis of ambition by the board who could blame him...Suprisingly no comments from the CEO
I really think Dick mentioning the 3 quality players again in the press conference was him setting up his exit speech. Lets be honest unless (and it looks unlikely) short starts throwing money around Dick will be off..and then what JOS stepping in as player manager? nowt would surprise me with that lot.

I think Congerton isn't up to the job and I'm critical of his methods. But I also get the feeling he's handicapped by Short refusal to invest probably.

I really dont think Congerton has been that bad, He's made mistakes in bringing in who Poyet wanted (Bridcutt, Buckley) but there's only so much he can do with the money he's allocated.

On paper, The majority are good signings. I also seen some improvement in Rodwell on Saturday, Hopefully this is the start for him.

You get the feeling it probably has to at some point. But at crucial times in the past two seasons we've looked almost certain for relegation and recovered, whereas this times it seems to be coming to a head very early. Who knows - maybe we'll see that crisis point fighting spirit much earlier this season
I hope so, we need something positive to hang on to with this shitstorm going on. This has been simmering away for quite some time now, so I'm not surprised it's finally happening. It's the timing of it that's caught me out.

You think it's a shame that we didn't get beat heavily at the weekend . That's shameful. I don't give a toss about your reasoning.

so you care more about points than making the team better, no matter what it takes. I'll sacrifice a point IF it guarantee's short spending, with the press on his back he may have.

We are led to believe that when Dick was initially offered the job for this season he knocked us back and then the club repeatedly went back to Dick to ask until he eventually agreed. It would be good to know exactly what was discussed in those subsequent conversations and what it was that made Dick change his mind. We like to think that the discussions were about transfer budgets but maybe they were about personal remunerations for Dick or maybe they were about Dick's sidekick Bert.

I suspect that Dick has been promised 5 or 6 quality signings and the grey area has been the definition of quality and also there was probably a proviso regarding outgoing players freeing up wages which has proved a stumbling block.

What they are discussing now is what happens if the required number of players are not moved off the wage bill, maybe Ellis is saying that nothing can happen and Dick is saying that 2 or 3 more players have to happen to give us a chance.

If on paper most of our signings are good why are we crap?

The lack of balance here is frightening although it's not surprising given our results. It appears to me that the need to have a bogey man and somebody to aim all anger at has overcome the need for any reasoned thinking.

@CraigHope_DM: Dick Advocaat future as SAFC boss in fresh doubt tonight after taking swipe at Ellis Short & admitting he's not happy
If we dont get the 2/3 quality players in the next 7 days big dick wont be the only 1 chucking the towel in with SAFC !!

The only thing a defeat guarantees is less points. If we had lost one more game last season we would have been relegated.

You said it was a shame we didn't suffer a heavy defeat - that's not something any supporter should be wishing for ffs.

I don't think he'll walk . He's not 5. If he does then good riddance.

He doesn't need the job, he only came back after prolonged attempts by short & congerton to do so.

Do you really think he came back without some guarantees over investment in the team? Maybe his and shorts idea of quality and le el of investment differ, which is why we've got to this point

As for walking, i don't blame him in the slightest if we don't bring in some quality this week. Good riddance? We'll see if you think the same when we try to replace him

Why bust the bank to get someone back to the club, promise him funds to improve the squad ( not 50 million of course) then totally back track

Its a bit of a farce
Not sure this happened as Dick said on his return he hadn't been promised more money and it wasn't about this. The other thing is some good players have options and wait to see what tdevelops.

Well he reckons himself he did come back with no agreement on the amount to be invested.
