Borini

Why not? I am sure it happens. Players vacillate and/or are not always completely honest about what they want after all. I could easily see Borini, in an effort to not burn bridges or offend, say he would be happy to make a move to Sunderland when privately he might not really feel that way. Especially if he thinks there isn't much of a realistic chance of it happening - of Sunderland coming up with the money.

BTW, the latest rumor on goal.com is that Borini has 'snubbed' Sunderland. Source is someone named Gianluca di Marzio - whoever that is.

I think it's De Fanti's mate who also reported that Vito had handed a transfer request in.

Think I made a list of all the stories he's got wrong since Di Fanti left somewhere on this thread. It's longer than the nile.

Surely we havent made the bid without some indication that Borini is interested. Theres a difference between sounding out and tapping up
Not necessarily.

Look, some people need a reality check. Fabio Borini will not sign for us on a permanent basis. He used his loan spell as a chance to put himself in the shop window and will use our bid to tempt others to bid. Clubs in Europe, playing in the Europa league or better.

We just aren't attractive enough AT THIS POINT IN TIME. We're battling relegation every other year. Looking at the squad as it currently stands, we'll be doing that again next year.

Do you think a player like Borini fancies a relegation battle as a full time employee? Its one thing doing it on loan when you know that at the end of the season, you can walk away if it all goes wrong, but Im betting he wouldn't want us to be his full time employer at the moment.

I cant fault the ambition of the club in going after his signature, but we really need 2-3 years of 10th or better placed finishes BEFORE we are likely to able to attract players like him.

Besides which, Im not sure how many goals he would score in a season. Im guessing 12-14 is his level. If Liverpool thought he was capable of 16-20, they'd be keeping hold of him.

Ahh, ok. So not to be trusted at all.

Said we were getting Di Matteo as manager when we sacked PDC, that Mannone had put a transfer request in, that we were sacking Poyet and replacing him with Spalletti even if we stayed up last season, that we were selling Giaccherini to West Ham and that we were signing Kovacic from Inter.

Bit of a shitehawk then ? ;) :)

All this speculation, rumour and double guessing does your head in.
It's a lot easier to wait and see and deal in facts.

its not looking amazingly positive, but not too worry. I would love to have him back, but remember he was part of a team that struggled to stay in the league last year.

there are always other options.
