This, if anything our fans have been too loyal over the years (if there's such a thing) and accepting being also rans now seems to be in our DNA. For as long as I can remember, we've been too much of a push over when trying to hold on to talent and wholly accomodating when accepting has been's and average Joe's. I also think the loan system has a lot to answer for as we nearly always have to rebuild at the start of every season and never have a settled side. I also think the loan system maintains the gap between the top 6 and the rest of the league because as long as we are all happy to take players for a season's loan, they are still owned by the big boys. If the system was scrapped and Premier league sides were not allowed to bring players in on loan (from anywhere). Then the top teams would find it harder to hold onto the likes of Lukaku, Borini, Rose etc. and eventually these players would trickle down to other teams in the league and thus, the league would become more competitive. And before you say it, I accept Borini and Ki have been a success for us this season but I'm trying to look at the big picture here. Just my opinion, of course.Unlike the Mags and contrary to what is said on here, we accept a hell of a lot of shit. We are probably seen as a decent bet for players wanting a good wage, to play in front of a big crowd and not to be expected to graft too hard these days.
