Ok explain to me why radio 5 are not happy that the batsman wasn't given out ?? surely replays prove conclusively whether he's out or not ???

But surely if Root is our long term opening partner for Cook, a five match series against relative cricketing minnows is the ideal time for him to bed in to the role?

he is, your 100% right on that mate, just think we should ease him in, you see how good he is today, it's because he's got through the hard first 2 hours of a new ball
if he was batting at 5, that first 2 hours has already gone

Eh?

Great in the first innings, epecially from a man who has not been allowed to play any cricket for most of the season. He's also probably the best fielder in the side.

Ok, am somewhat biased. 8-)

he is playing very much with a cross bat atm for me, and a test match player who does that is found out VERY quick ! if he can take that out of his game he could go on to be a very useful player
but i do agree with you, tbf to the kid, he has had hardly any first class cricket for ages, he's just been fetching drinks and towels on

Looked like it touched the ground, after he grasped it its between two fingers only and I think it slipped onto the ground. Who knows. The batsman gets the benefit of the doubt, and I think that principle should hold, technology or no technology. It's not as clear as Warne and Gower are making out from the cameras. Just because it is there doesn't mean it is always conclusive. The fallback should always be Not Out

That bloke's profile pic!

Dull day of cricket this.

Disagree. Some good showing of discipline from both sides and its been pleasing watching Root build an innings. He should have got to a ton in the last over mind.

And to continue in the same form of each day we have a bit of drama re: reviews. Bit puzzling as to why the third umpire didn't give Bell out.

Aye I suppose just been spoilt so far with wickets tumbling, flashing shots and controversy this series so far, just feels a bit dull that it is a normal day of test cricket.
