They might not get it but if you think those three arent capable then you know fuck all

I'm still confident we can win this test match. When we were 28-3, i.backed us @ 3/1.

Im not sure why many are writing it off. (Well I am, cos they are planks who dont know much about cricket). Its day one ffs, we are still in and have yet to see the Aussies with the bat. Also the pitch is already turning so it should be hard to bat last on it.

What is going on here? This forum is going the same way as pure football with tit for tat nonsense like

Match in the balance. Should never predict how a game is panning out until the end of the second innings - at the earliest. Third innings is usually the crucial one. If we can get 320 then I think we are in a half decent position to win it still

Too many football fans, who normally dont even bother/have a clue who are tuning in cos its the ashes I suspect.

I thought you were mr positive? Am I trying to be happy clapper for the cricket forum here

Fwiw i reckon we will be out for under 350 but lets hope bres swanny and broad can do something with the bat

Nah, more just say it as i see it rather and know that the test version of the game is a long stretch (whereas some think a couple of early wickets or a couple of batsmen getting out cheaply means its game over and everyone is shite).

I reckon 330 is a decent score when you have an attack like ours against a batting line up like theirs (two big last wicket stands made them look much better than they actually are imo).

We don't need bigots like you on here. Go back to Scotland where scum like you belong.

There's absolutely no need for that.

I also live in Scotland but was born in Shotley Bridge and brought up in Durham.

So does that make me "scum" because owing to work I now live in Scotland ??

The Aussie bloke on The Verdict re: Roots dismissal. He is saying that he thinks, having seen all the replays and slow-mo stuff, it was just pad first but because it was so tight the benefit of the doubt should have went to the batsman and he should have been saved. Do any Aussies understand how the review system works?

Time will tell but I agree with this. The Aussies just seem to have too many batsmen that lack patience. I get the impression that if you bowl enough balls in the right spot they will eventually have a nibble. I guess this is the logic behind bringing in Bresnan who hopefully will plug away just outside off stump.

which is why they brought in harris and it did the job...!

Yes exactly but....they didn't get enough balls in the right spot AND Bell, Trott and Bairstow were very watchful. I am not sure if the Aussies have the patience to let as many of those tempting balls outside off stump go through to the keeper. The booming cover drive might be too much of a temptation for the likes of Watson, Smith and Clarke.

Clarke has the patience IMHO. It just depends if he has enough partners with the patience. I just hope we've taken note of what worked for the Aussies with just bowling a good consistent line and length, we know Anderson can do that, as can Bresnan, but Broad has a tendency to revert to short ball pies when Finn isn't in the side.

Most batsmen these days lack patience (I blame the shorter versions of the game) so yes, keep it tight and they will make a rash decision sooner rather than later.

Tbf, the Aussies werent keeping it particularly tight when you look at the run rate. We took our eye off the ball with the bit part spinner towards the end of the day and paid the price. Thats been our downfall cos we'd be sitting pretty otherwise.
