50 for Borthwick now, 15 from 4 deliveries

Surely both Colly and Borthwick should be higher in the order?

The one thing we've always had is a fairly reliable middle order. I think they're pretty much in their correct positions, we just need to find a 1 and 3 from somewhere, and a replacement for Benkenstein when he retires, and then Collingwood.

Actually, that doesn't bear thinking about :shock:

I do agree mate that they are in correct positions, I just mean it needs addressing as soon as possible and we obviously can't bring anyone in. Maybe short term a few of the struggling top order could come in lower down when the balls a bit softer. Certainly think Benk should move down

Excellent partnership of 153 for the 7th wicket. I can only hope it doesn't paper over the cracks as far as the management is concerned. Our top order have underperformed in three innings this season and also the majority of last year.

As far as changing things go, Richardson must be given a go. However I'd give serious consideration to elevating Colly or Scotty to number 3. I didn't personally agree with Scotty batting number 3 before - but desperate times perhaps.....?

I would move Stokes up to 4, Colly up to 5 with Benks at 6

Stokes is the best batsman

Clearly there are 2 things that need to be considered;

1. what the opening 3 should be because its looking like we have the wrong 3, and
2. whether we tinker with the middle order as you say.

Richardson is an obvious choice at number 3 and TBH I'm surprised he signed his new contract unless he was told that he would play as a batsman as soon as an opening arose. Rocky is under massive pressure now IMHO as well as Smith.

Great comeback after looking down and out mid afternoon.

The Rudolph deal, I'm told is still on.

I hope the story is right, it was printed on Tuesday in a South African sports paper and simply says " sources say he is close to concluding a deal to play for Durham from next month"
After the way the top order batsmen folded today his signing would be a godsend.
