That can only be to wind him up

agreed like, no other way of looking at it, pure vindictiveness

Swann is also not in the T20. A nothing story.

kp: i would like to retire from 50 overs but carry on with t20.
ecb: no, you have to play both.
kp: ok then.
ecb: we're resting you from t20s but you can play 50 over stuff.

slightly abridged version ;-)

I think the ECB are showing him who's the boss.

From the squad I reckon the team would be:

Hales
Lumb
Wright
Morgan
Bairstow
Buttler
Patel
Broad
Bresnan
Tredwell
Dernbach

with Briggs and Meaker mising out.

I think Briggs for one of Bresnan or Dernbach, Patel being 1 of 2 spin options in India isn't good enough for me.

Aye, you're probably right. I was forgetting about the conditions. I would drop Bresnan but I suspect they'll keep him in to bolster the batting and drop Dernbach instead.

I very rarely watch England in T20 action - do either of the opening batsmen bowl at all?

Don't think so, think there's only Wright and Patel of the batsmen who bowl a bit
