Just ordered one of these:

Manfrotto 035 superclamp and camera/tripod stud. The plan is to mount the RC4 ball head on it. My thinking being it's a lot easier to take on a plane than my 055XB tripod.

I would say that camera gear is my only vice, but you wouldn't believe me

One of these arrived today.

Can't afford a lens for it like, but you can't have it all.

Now that is a thing of beauty.

Beautiful bit of kit that - I love proper engineering. Although not having lens may limit the quality of any photos you take.

The shots I've taken so far with it are a little soft like. Proper overrated these Leicas.

On a serious note - are there not compatible lenses cheaper from the other rangerfinders of that era? Canon, Minolta amongst others might have made compatible lenses which you may pick up a little cheaper.

Yeah - Minolta do a nice 40mm that was developed with Leica, plus the Leica version isn't mad money either. Both were made for the cheapish CLE cameras so that puts off the Leica snobs. Hard to get hold of though.

Ended up getting one of these - Leica 40mm f2 Summicron-C.

Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 AI. Probably just a little too late to get anything entered in the monthly comp unfortunately, but we'll see. Meant to be an excellent lens for general non-macro work too, which is partly why I wanted one.

I have the 60mm version of that and it's my favourite lens.

Nice - that'll be the autofocus one, which I think also goes closer as a macro lens. I'm delighted with the 55mm though as I got it for £59 from Ffordes (with 6 month guarantee) and it's in great condition. They go for more than that on ebay. I'm coming to the conclusion that anything that has a bit of demand (such as old Nikon stuff) goes for too much money on ebay now, and then there's the minefield of what condition it's in too.

This thread seems to have died a death of late, so here I am resurrecting it with my latest purchase. I have decided to sell my Yashicamat as a result of buying this (and may decide to let go of one or two Nikons too, to justify the purchase). Here it is, the so-called Texas Leica......

Takes class photos of small question marks

Recently bought a Tokina 11-16. Tis canny, but not as sharp as the Samyang.

I also bought a High tech ten stop ND from Bristol cameras 2 weeks ago and have seen neither hide nor hair.

As mentioned in a previous post, I got this Yashica Mat 124G, this week. Its as clean as my 5D II, and its at least 16 years old. Just got some 100F film delivered today, so I am chomping at the bit, to get out and use it :-D

Looking forward to seeing shots from it. Barely used mine, but when I did it always impressed.

Really nice to use anarl.

Sounds good. Took your advice on the film (100F) :-D. As always, when you get a new camera, the weather is shite, and by the looks of it until next week :-(

Aye, that's the bugger with film, you're at the mercy of the weather way more than with digital. Every shot costs a few quid.

Really got into film last year, but ended up with very few shots. Having said that, most of my favorite shots are film.

I will have to get used to putting more thought into it before I push the button now  I think I will get a greater sense of achievment out of film photography (as long as I can get some decent shots ).
