He was 40 in Italia 90, played for England for over 15 years, won league title and European cups.

Should have been subbed for Beasant for the penalty shoot out by Bobby Robson, mind...

Made int debut 1970, a few months earlier & his England career would have covered 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s.

Great keeper but errors in latter stages of Italia 90 & should have out jumped Hand of God.

Beasant was widely considered a load of shite for being prone to howlers. Chris Woods was a strange one. Good keeper but lost his place at Shef Wed to Pressman (injury?) and never seemed to appear again. Vanished.

Woods briefly reappeared at Roker Park during our last season there - think he may have played in our last ever game there v Liverpool in 1997.
