That's true, although I do have a great story about a Sunderland match there when I see you in June ....... it's not for this forum ;).

So do I, involving going on a bus from The Board Inn as a Blades fan and guiding the bus to Bramall Lane via the back streets. It dropped me at The Kop turnstiles where the police were saying you can't get off here.

Sheff United in the days of the BBC was not a great place to visit as an away fan.

It was the OCS that were following me and not the BBC and that's the funny thing.

I was returning from the Sheff Utd v SAFC match having had no problems with any blades fans and nearly got caught in some bother with wednesday:eek::eek:

Is rare they used to stay away from London Road and the area round the Lane. I've never had bother at Wednesday

I was approaching the station on the way home and they clocked me there.

You can get bother anywhere. I've been to Millwall, Leeds, Chelsea but came near to a kicking at Grimsby by coming out of the ground in what turned out to be the wrong direction.

There was never usually trouble before Grimsby matches but they'd wait outside for stragglers then line the rows of terraced streets on the way to the motorway.

I think there will be a fair bit of trouble involving Newcastle supporters next season.
I have a story about Brammal Lane that neither of you will beat. It was the night of the 3-1 win when Bracewell scored that screamer. I ended up in a cell under the main stand. I got out of the cell as the gate wasn't locked and walked into the main stand before kick off.
I told a pack of lies and ended up in the gantry next to the tv cameras with free drinks.
I was literally up in the gods.
After the match I dropped the jackpot in the pub next to the ground. By now everyone had gone home, I was in my car but had drunk too much to drive.
I spent the night in a hotel with a " lady " who I met after the game.
Next morning I drove her to Barnsley and carried on home.
A very good away day. The best, in fact.

I had a Blades supporting mate from Penistone, a small town near Barnsley. He used to talk about getting off with good looking lasses from Barnsley on nights out there.
"You think I've pulled a stunner....then she opens her mouth and talks"

btw I
Shouldn't have been locked up in the first place.

She was from Cudworth. We stayed in touch, I dropped in a few times on my way back home. She was a canny lass.

Tell me about it. I was chassed at Chesterfield many years ago.

I tend to find the smaller/ lower league clubs is where your more likely to find trouble be that looking for it or keeping your head down.

Shrewsbury, Chesterfield, Lincoln, Grimsby etc. These types of clubs have their nasty element.

Cuddurth is posh Barnsley. Bit like Sheffield it gets very nice as you hit the moors surrounding the town.

Aye. All of those can be rough. Chesterfield vs Sheff United was always rough.

She wasn't posh ! It's great to be able to remember your trips around without being slagged off by newcomers for no good reason.
I once slept in a single bed with a bloke from Easington who I 'd never met !

One match that never fails to amaze me is Chester v Wrexham.

Was watching that match on BT Sport a year or so ago. It was at Chester and the crowd was just over 4000.

The amount of bald headed Neanderthals in the crowd in relation to the attendance and the amount of riot police lining the pitch near the end was staggering:rolleyes::eek:

Remember queuing for 12 hours for ours in 98 missed the mags get stuffed in cup final and everything. Soft bastards aren't committed to the cause.hope they get stuffed

It was a good laugh in the queue listening to them getting toned, I think I queued for about 6 hours and got a right sunburnt napper!
