Surely got to give Pringle a go. He was Durhams best batsmen in his last championship match against Warks.
He's been our only decent batsman in the 2nds this year largely.

Macloed has batted 11 innings for us scoring 261 runs at an average of 26. With one 50 a top score of 84

Muchall had 19 innings last season scoring 550 runs averaging 36 with a ton and 2 50s.

Macleod is an average list A cricketer at best and shouldn't be in the championship side. Muchall can actually hold his bat in the red ball cricket, albeit he's not great.
Fuck me mate are we ever going to move on from Gordon Muchall. He is nearly 33 He made his debut in 2001, and during that time has never been good enough to nail down a spot in the side for a full season.
To put some perspective on how long he has been around when he made his debut Martin Love was Durhams overseas player Simon Brown was opening the bowling and Borthwick was 10 year old.
I get the feeling in a few years time we are going to be discussing on here whether Omega mans son should be making his debut or should we recall Muchall from the 2nds for about the 45th time.

He's a better batsmen than Macleod that's really the point not debating on how good Muchall is.

We've got a serious lack of batsmen as we only have 3 decent players excluding stokes. One of the 3 is gonna be retiring at the end of the season to make matters worse.

Bloody hell all out for 89 and 71, must have been one hell of a pitch that

@Twisted @Dougal

Question for you lads. Live right next to Lords, was thinking of getting a Middlesex membership for the year for the crack. Did you go in the Pavilion? The long room and the bars there?

Whats it like?

So surely that is why we should be giving someone with potential a try instead of someone who might in theory score a few more runs short term as he has more expeirence. If we select players on the basis that they are at that time better than a sub standard player but we know they are also not good enough then you will go backwards. At least the younger player gets a chance to bed himself in to the batting order with decent players around him. Thats what they did with Stoneman and Borthwick it took some time but they came good and have left Muchall miles behind.

Don't you have to be mcc to get in the long room?

Officially, anyway

Right - we always go in the Allen Stand which is the Middlesex Members stand. It's got its own bar with two real ales and does any food, expensive food like. The Stewards have got to know us and we get on quite well with them all. You also have access to the upper and lower outdoor balconies, though we're quite happy watching from the inside window seats. Access is with your Durham CCC Membership Book. Dress code is smart/casual, but you must have a shirt with a collar - polo shirts are fine.

You can also get access to the MCC Members area including the Long Room - however that is a very strict dress code. Jacket, shirt, collar, trousers and proper shoes - similarly you get access using your Durham CCC Membership Book. Me cousin tried to take one of our lads in but was extremely politely declined access on the basis that the 'jacket' being worn did not pass their dress code. Of course, the advantage of being a Middlesex Member is that you'd be able to access the Members areas when we go for our Annual trip to Lord's for the Cup Final ..... unfortunately, other County Members can't access those areas on Cup final Days .......

Is that what you wanted to know? Will you be going to Arundel or the Rose Bowl?

Spot on mate cheers, that Allen stand sounds spot on to be honest.

Yeah I thought the MCC Members bit would be very snobby, but I've always wanted to go there, love the history, and think it would be a canny experience for a summer with all the posh boys! Just put me suit on, might even get an MCC tie :D

I haven't looked that far ahead, but I will probably get to Sussex like aye.

Really enjoyed the last few days cricket, disappointing final day obviously, I actually thought it got away from us when Finn and the injured lad had that partnership and we lost Stoneman and Jennings, but was trying to sound positive!

I can recommend the Lord's Tour - obviously you don't hang around with them in the Long Room etc, so always best to go on a non-cricket match day. That way you see the Media Centre and players changing rooms at leisure. The guides are cricket lovers and love giving anecdotes and talking about the history of the place.

The Allen Stand is a good craic, plenty Durham supporters get in there and have a good drink and bit of banter - the Middlesex supporters are very friendly as well as knowledgeable and love talking all things cricket related.

There'll be a crew going to all the Southern games so just make yourself known and join in the craic ....

dont mention kp mind

We'll have to watch for when he bowls and his figures are 10 overs for 66 runs and maybe a bouncer hits someone in the eye too. ;)

it would be another Forfar 4 Fife 5 situation.
Strange reference, but if you're interested...

You were misinformed for once ;)
Apparently, but then who isn't these days when they change the regs on a whim?

First ball he was in there was nearly a comical run out actually, although in the gloom I'm amazed anybody could actually see the ball.
