The Gus Out Brigade

There is no Gus Out brigade

I just want him to shut his mouth, and get on with winning football matches, he hasn't been doing that all season.

I know exactly where they'll be - on here after the next defeat.

The fans got proven 100 per cent right today

Be more attacking, and we will score goals, not rocket science, not sure why it has taken until February for this to happen, but at least it is done now.

poyet as been watching a few Reidy videos this on how to get the ball forward, cross it into the box and score...I love kick n rush me

TBF we have always kicked. It's the rushing that is new. Deeper stud marks on the turf, people keen to get up field. It looks just like real football.

Comfortable victory against a poor team. Literally never looked like it would be anything over than a win for us. This thread is ridiculously premature but as the only purpose of it is to wind up the morons who know literally nothing about football I'd say it's done the job.

the fact gomez didnt get the hook and that he subbed out our 2 forwards for our other 2 when our midfield was getting pulled to bits is symptomatic of his use of subs. he waits too long to act and then does something mental. i honestly cant remember either of them having a shot after they came on because we were getting swamped in midfield.
Hughbert, like you and many others have I have been a huge critic of Gus' defensive setup for home games. I do hear exactly what you are saying here and agree with all that you said. We could have brought on another midfielder for a forward and consolidated the win.

However I am not going to criticise Gus for swapping 2 forwards for 2 forwards in todays game. After all we have waited long enough for this to happen. Burnley are the kind of team where it is worth the risk of keeping on 2 new forwards to try and build their confidence.

It's a fine balance in the following sense :-

For the first time in a long time Gus has gone for 2 up front. Switching to 1 up front late on yesterday would leave Fletcher(maybe Graham) with all the old problems of isolation up front which he has had to suffer for months now and yet more debilitation for his confidence. I am still a fan of Fletcher for his finishing skills but the horrendous miss against Spurs was Jozy like and must have knocked his confidence. I think it was worth the risk against a team like Burnley to let Fletch and Graham have 15 minutes together to see if they could produce something together.

BTW, what a find we have in Rev.

I think it highlights that we have to play 2 up top to win games.

It shouldn't have taken Defoes signing for it to happen though.

Wickham benefited yesterday from Defoe making the near post run freeing up space, that wouldn't have been a goal in a 1 up formation.
Fletcher and Altidore absolutely need to be in a two up top, and if they had been given licence to roam around Wickham all season we might just have got more out of them without the need to get Defoe in.

The OP is overly excited here. Attempting to argue with people who don't exist.

From what I've read and said myself the overwhelming majority on this board have been saying 'Gus must change or go'. This is not 'Gus out'.

Thankfully he looks like he has changed. Lovely to see two upfront yesterday. We were right, Gus has listened and all is well.

SMB wins. You should be thanking us.

I agree - particularly against weaker teams but you say that with this assumption that everything else would have been as solid in the rest of the team. The problem has always been that are midfield aren't good enough against most teams as a 4 and that is still the case.
