Niall Quinn

Never can when you go to the hospital and see his name on the side of a building he paid for that my daughter attended on a regular basis. ...

For me far and away his biggest legacy to this city and it set a precedent amongst his peers...
100% agree. Would just like him to something nice about us once on a while. I am that shallow to be fair.

And neither have you but i know whats more probable and thats niall quinn using contacts to find short than a billionaire appearing of his own accord..they werent exactly queing up when bob sold up were they..?
And shareholders got a fair price at rhe time when bob did sell...the alternative was to hold back the sale which for the clubs sake had to go through...
As I said, like you, I don't have any facts to substantiate my opinion. But I don't agree it wasn't probable that we wouldn't get a rich, new owner. It is also a fact that Murray, bless him, was trying to sell for some time but to someone who had the club at heart. Whether or not Drumaville did is open to opinion. Bob Murray allowed supporters to buy shares in the club they loved. They were compulsorily purchased. It was never a fair price given it was less than 10% of the purchase price. More concerning for me was not the price but the ownership of a little bit of the club I was born to support more than 60 years ago. That legacy was taken. It would have been nice to have an honorary or even a non-voting share to pass on through the family.

Getting back to Quinny everyone I know tells me what a nice man he is and I'm sure that's right. But he got plenty out of Sunderland too including a very good salary until he was dropped by Short.

I've now read quite a few supposed Sunderland fans on here calling him worse than shite, definitely more than sits comfortably (one calling him out is too many in my opinion).

It's a term bandied about far too much but the man is an absolute, bona fide SAFC legend, he's done more for this club than any of the ungrateful gobshites on here and on account of this, his love for the club I'm sure matches theirs' too.

He's paid by Sky to be neutral, his only fault is that in trying to do that he sometimes goes too far to compensate for his obvious allegiance to Sunderland. He can be criticised for this by all means but it has to be in context and for little shits to come on here saying he's a twat/tit/cunt is beyond the pale. Show some respect to a great man!
100% agree, in particular with the over compensating. Still rather have him on than someone with similar history for the mags who would more than likely not show anywhere near Quinny's class

It was all a bit odd. Was he bending over backwards to be 'impartial'? I have a notion that somebody at Sky may have told him to do that, and he simply overdid it. Sometimes Niall (and I love him) can be slightly dim in such matters.

I remember him in the first 3-0 thought he was more biased to us then

Right, I have both of the past 2 games at the o3 on my sky plus and I have watched them multiple times now... Last time quinny was sooooo biased towards us sky had shit loads of complaints (you could literally hear him wanking when all 3 goals went in)
Yesterday he was obviously told he needs to be impartial and he made a shit job of it... He went overboard basically.
Simple as that

Clearly a case of over compensating

Although cannot imagine Quinn ever hating a club like a lot of regular SOL possibly do

It's pretty easy to do I guess.

Seriously man, football fans are so petty and precious. "ooooh somebody said something mean about my football team they're so mean I hate them they must hate us".... They couldn't just happen to have a valid opinion that doesn't suck us all off? Same as when every pundit predicted PDC would take us down and be a disaster and apparently it was a media conspiracy against us, nothing to do with the fact the squad was filled with shite and managed by a lunatic.

If Quincy said some bad things about us, so f***ing what, either he saw it differently to us or he was over compensating. But you know what, it doesn't actually matter, does it? Like, it means fuck all compared to everything he done for us?

Football fans can be f***ing pathetic at times.

So we aren't allow to criticise Quinn's commentary just because he saved us 8 years ago? Has the SMB become a Stalin state? What you are suggesting is that is no-one is allowed freedom of speech and that is far more pathetic & dangerous than criticising Quinn over an awful commentary.

Yes, of course, share ownership carries no guarantees. I have had lots shares which have gone up, down and others have remained stable. Some have fallen through the floor. But I maintain the offer price was not a fair one in my view. Drumaville did well out of their venture and the people to lose out most were the small shareholders.

I completely agree. Whether or not I agree with an SMBer I would always defend their right to have a different opinion. At least varying views have not yet met with deletion or expulsion!!
