Smoking should be banned in the UK

(d) I find it a sociable thing to do. Lotsa hot birds I know smoke.

If only they knew that so many blokes would turn away and look elsewhere the minute they found out the lass smoked. Improves your odds of pulling though, so that could be a point (e).

The smokers. on here, have proved themselves to be incredibly smarmy ........... and you seem to be their self-elected leader, for obvious reasons :-D

It's funny how the smokers automatically exclude themselves from being fat, Greggs munching, ginger, beer guzzlers ........ the highest percentage of smokers is in the lowest socio-economic group which means smokers are thick as well as smelly.

What are you doing posting at 5am? You must have been having smarmy dreams

I think executives at tobacco companies should be shot.

These people have spent years profiting from others suffering.

Worse than that, the shits have put petrol additives, formaldehyde, toilet cleaner, nail polish remover and cyanide in to increase the levels of pleasure and addiction without even ever having to tell any fucker.

These people are scum. The governments attitude to the 'war on drugs' and evil drug dealers is laughable.

Non smokers in arrogant posts shocker!

You have helped kill off the pub trade,You have smokers doing it in bus shelters outside their work places, but you still Fecking whinge!

If someone wants to smoke let them.If someone doesn't smoke fair play to them.Just don't bore me with your moaning when there are loads of ILLEGAL drugs that the government dont get any tax from which are used pretty much at will.Nanny state gone mad comes to mind

Utterly silly comment. There are far more relevant causes that have knacked the pub trade such as plain economics and a shift in culture and habits.

No one I know even talks about it.

Indeed. Most of the smokers I know prefer the pubs to be smoke free. Many of them have been encouraged to quit, seeing how stupid they luck dragging carcinogens through their fingers in the pissing rain.

I don't get it.

I know exactly the risk of smoking tobacco, I know the chemicals in it, the tobacco packets make this very clear on every packet they sell. If I chose to smoke them, that's my choice.

Surely it's the same with other drugs. I know the risks associated with cannabis, and so I smoke a joint every now and then.

I know the risks associated with ecstasy, so a couple times a year I have a pill.

Why is this a problem? I know the risks of what I'm doing and I make a choice to take these substances. If in 10 years time I die as a result of them, I won't go crying to the government saying 'why didn't you ban this', I'll only have myself to blame.

FYI, alcohol kills more people in a given year than the VAST majority of drugs. Would you propose having a 'war on alcohol' too?

What is wrong with telling people the risks of their behaviour and letting them decide based on the risks what they wish to do?

Congratulations sir, you have just won my monthly award for biggest eejit on the SMB.

One of the comedy classic defences from the smokers is, 'Well yes, it will kill me, but you can just as easily be hit by a bus'

What they miss is that a number 19 is relatively efficient and quick ....... it doesn't involve years of visits as an out-patient and then a lingering death, in hospital, being visited by family who end up wishing you'd just die

It is also quite uncommon to be flattened by a bus whereas the chances of developing lung cancer from smoking is considerable.

Its unhealthy, its a waste of money, its unsociable, its not fashionable and servers no real purpose regardless of what smokers say about I need one cause Im stressed out.

Ban it now anywhere in the UK and save millions of lives and use the money saved to help the older folks who we should be looking after

Quite frankly, why do you care what I do? If I choose to smoke does it affect you personally unless I am blowing it directly in your face?

Fixed.;)

I enjoy the addiction. It's the only answer I can give even though I know it's gonna kill me eventually.

I wouldn't necessarily be against a ban either though. It's a particularly stupid habit.

Genuinely surprised to find out you smoke. You seem like a bright lad.

Even bigger idiot than a smoker?

I"m often doing that, not sure why... probably not paying enough attention. I used 'their' instead of 'there' earlier and last week I type 'hole' instead of 'whole'. :)
