Zak Johnson

Impossible to tell whether he's better than hjelde

I agree. Which is why I didn't say that. I said I'd prefer him to be giving the game time ahead of hjelde as imo he has more of the intangibless I think a defender needs to succeed. From what I've seen of both players. Of course hjelde was playing in a new team playing poorly whereas Johnson was playing in a team he had experience with playing decently.

He's better than Anderson in my opinion having watched them both play for u21s multiple times.

From what little we saw of him last year I'd also prefer him to be played ahead of hjelde. I really rate Johnson highly.

Without a run of games and a bit of experience I'm not saying he's better than seelt
I haven't watched Johnson but watched a lot of Anderson in L1 who was very comfortable on the ball and fairly solid at the back though often played LB rather than CB. Johnson would likely benefit from a L1 loan too, even until January.

He absolutely would benefit from a loan if he gets to play regularly. There's at least 4 of our academy lads who could do with a loan. Plus young.

Anderson really needs to work on his physique mind.

From their forum

Nightmare. Johnson is probably out player of the year so far. Suddenly recruitment becomes even more critical this summer

Massive loss. Such a tidy and confident player for a 19 year old.

That's the risk we took. 6 month loans are useless to us really. Yes we saw a great young player who helped us to a club record 8 consecutive home clean sheets. However we now need to replace him at the business end of the season and hope whoever comes in hits the ground running.

Sounds like a great loan for him, and as mentioned hopefully a league 1 loan next.

I would just ignore his Hartlepool loan spell, I’m fairly sure they played him right back most of the time.

Wouldn't be so quick to loan him out. Sounds like he did well in a mens league. Have a look when he comes back. Young uns can change a lot in a short space of time.

Big preseason for him.

Would much rather see people like him given a chance than going out and spending money on some foreigner.

This summer if we were to keep everyone, then our entire budget should go on 3 players.

2 forwards and a DM and other gaps in the squad give to our u21s.

Unfortunately knowing us we'll spread that budget over 8 young players none that are any better than what's already at the club

Couldn't agree more. Quality over quantity

Hats off to him. I never saw any benefit of him moving to play in the Irish league. But it has seemingly worked a treat for him. Looking forward to seeing how he gets on in pre season

Competitive football playing against men. Simple as that really. We definitely should be sending more out there

So many young players out there just need that chance. Granted a lot won't take it, but those that do, it's worth the risk.

We've let a lot of players leave over the years without giving them a chance and they've went on to have better careers than the level we're at now.

Egan, Houraine being two off the top of my head.

A lot of young irish lads get picked up after a good season in Ireland or Northern Ireland.

Loaning them there seems a good way of pushing them on, Hume was bought from there after a good season and a half. Hopefully its puts him in the squad for next season.

Probably the only 2 mind.
