Must have been a change of tactics ( which wouldnt have suited us ) cos Campbell said the only way Durham play is to try and win the game / score quicklyGot to question the coaches and captains approach to this innings?? To go out and bat super negatively is a bizarre way to go on....it effects the team mentally and just encourages this kind of collapse
It wouldn’t have made sense to try to win the game from the 11am position as that would have required potentially suicidal declaration batting. But there is still a balance to be struck. Runs in that situation are double bubble. They keep the fielding side at bay and, once you get ahead, they eat up the time that you have to bat for by making them use some of it as well. Even before he was out, I was profoundly worried at the way Lees had got becalmed. The best way to bat the day out for the draw is to score runs when the ball demands it.Must have been a change of tactics ( which wouldnt have suited us ) cos Campbell said the only way Durham play is to try and win the game / score quickly
Yes,the expression is "play cricket" - you play the bowling on merit but Durham have a very capable and proven top 7, perhaps only McKinney not fully proven. Shot selection today was unbelievable from such talented players. It's been apparent for a long time that confidence has been eroded. Clearly Campbell is going nowhere and above neither North or Bostock are answerable to anyone. Bottom line is-this club is knackered - end of.It wouldn’t have made sense to try to win the game from the 11am position as that would have required potentially suicidal declaration batting. The whole thing was too pathetic for small margins about tactics to have made a difference though. I’m not usually of the “they were all shit” persuasion when it comes to sport. Good days and bad days are part of the territory. It was Hampshire’s equally bad day yesterday that let us in. But I’m going to make an exception to that rule today. They were all shit.

Tbh those tactics have been few and far between this year - another of the unsolved mysteries of this wretched season.Must have been a change of tactics ( which wouldnt have suited us ) cos Campbell said the only way Durham play is to try and win the game / score quickly
First departure following the catastrophic defeat - @GordonMuchallNo1Fan sacked as Matchday Thread OP.Well Durham relegated... Pools were shit but drew.... Ice hockey isn't too bad..... Rant going up about 9pm.... Not happy. Mind you it's good to see North and Bostock getting pelters on social media, long overdue
Rest assured mate I've followed Durham since schoolboy days in the 70'sTaken you 50 years to get revenge.
Sad fact is that Durham is no longer identifiable as a team of "our boys" I e. local lads.
Hence the lack of bottle.

I've been to bed for a sleep. Didnt work either.Just been for a long walk to try and get this defeat out of my system, but it didnt work.
This is why I won't be going next year.Neither North or Bostock are answerable to anyone. Bottom line is-this club is knackered - end of.
