XFM/Karl Pilkington

I never listened to the XFM shows previously, but I did watch the animated series which their conversations are on (in the OP).

The first episode’s monkey news section where Karl thought the monkey launched a rocket had me in stitches.

“So the rocket goes off-”
“No! There is no way the monkey launched the rocket! THERE IS NO WAY THE MONKEY LAUNCHED THE ROCKET, YOU IDIOT!”

“So they say, hit the left button-”
“The left button! Oh well done, Space command. This is Houston - hit the left button!”

It’s excellent the conversations they naturally had. Ricky & Steve struck gold meeting him and just have him talk shit. :lol:
 


All rock busters & Karl v Steve radio arguments are on YouTube as well.

My favourite rock buster is the one where Ricky seemed genuinely worried that they’d get in trouble for it. :lol:

Karl: So PD is the initials, and the clue is “ooo, surprised he’s got a kid..”

Ricky: Ah I’ve got it. Karl! That’s awful! Karl!

Answer was Puff Daddy. :lol:
 
I've been falling asleep to these for about five years.

I still wake up and catch a bit I've never heard before occasionally.

When Ricky and Karl are doing the hostage negotiation is class.

For someone who’s not actually an actor, Karl has some good improv skills.

“Hi Mr Pilkington, it’s Sheila here”
“Sheila, shouldn’t you be here by now?!”

There's loads of class bits.

I think Merchant is a weird one, only occasionally funny but probably needed for the whole thing to work somehow.

He has his moments and like you say if it was just Ricky and Karl it would be just be a complete mess as Ricky doesn't know when to stop at times. Plus Karl taking the piss out of him is some of the best parts of the show.
