Workplace troubles

Anyone got any experience of this?

There’s a lad in the office who is turning into a problem. Regularly turns up late, complaints about body odour and signs off emails with “sincerely” like a spenk

anyway, today it got worse. He didn’t turn up until 10, didn’t deliver the work I needed and when I checked up on him was watching porn on his phone

reckons he is being victimised and will sue the company

any ideas?

MrJardine ?
Nothing exciting I'm afraid.

Today was in a long list of really aggravating situations at work involving my useless manager.

Chose to stay behind 2 hours later to finish some work the team I manage hadn't managed to get done (the workload was too much and they had all grafted hard). Sent a quick message to say I would be late home, next thing I'm in a meeting with my arsehole of a manager being given a warning for sending social messages in work and being told it would have to be reported as misconduct. Had enough and said ok I would just go home then. Next thing he's stood saying well this isn't good I don't think you're pulling your weight.

The work was for our whole team all the rest of which had left 90 mins earlier (which theyre well within their right to do), wouldn't care quite as if he hadn't been sat on top trumps online himself and hadn't took a sick day last Friday to drive South for a monster trucks rally. Company have also brought in a relief manager to assist him (his interpretation is do all his work) as this guy has been bursting into tears saying his staff are bullying him. He also now isn't allowed a phone as apparently phone calls cause him anxiety.

Any advice on what to do ? Don't normally post stuff like this but this is the latest in a long list of situations where I've ended up getting more shit for doing extra work than I would if I sacked it off. Needless to say also he's a raging Keegan mag.

Retire mate. Its great.

This is why I can’t work for a company now.
I’ve 20 year left and I would not survive in a call centre or any other company structure.

my advice would be take it on the chin. Then grass him up for every Misdemeanour

Sounds exactly like my place.

I got put on a project team and the guy in charge is a complete wet blanket.
Can't make a decisions, cant manage, cant plan, cant motivate.

He had a habit of talking under his breath while staring at his screen instead of addressing someone directly.
This caused a lot of things not to get done as people didn't realise that they were being instructed.

He tried to throw me under the bus and told his manager how crap I was.

We had a meeting with all 3 of us, me, him and his boss.
Off he went for 20 minutes listing things I'd apparently done wrong.
Then I gave my side calling out his poor performance as a manager and defending all of the allegations.

Long story short, the boss agreed with me and dismissed it all and moved the manager off the project.

They don’t take prisoners at your level!

You're being conscientious. Something he's not but wants to be. So, he's trying to stop you being conscientious. In other words, he wants to pull you down to his level.

If there are a few out to get you then you have a problem, but if it's one person who nobody rates then I can't understand why you're getting wound up over it.

Take out a formal grievance and get him in a meeting with a proper minute taker. I don't know if you get paid for the overtime you do, but if not, please don't do it. The bosses love it and put pressure on the rest of us to do it too. Plus if you don't mind me saying, some people might think it makes you look a bit of a management lickspittle. All of a sudden a culture develops where it's 'expected'. Not taking a lunch break is another example of that sort of work-for-free culture they try to develop.

Also, if you are not already, you and all your team should join a union, which will help stop you being bothered so much by the ha'penny skinning gradgrinds who pass for the grand majority of UK bosses

That's not how union's work. They should have joined a union long before they needed one.

If it was me I'd ask for a word in private with your manager and ask him to hear you out. Tell him you want to be conscientious and do the best you can but the way he's acting is making you wonder if it's worth putting the extra effort in.

If he doesn't hear you out tell him you're not going to waste your time discussing it again and report him for harassment saying he touched you inappropriately ;)
I don't who you are, or maybe I might, but you are wasting your time mate. You won't get a rise out of me no matter how hard you try :D
You can get a little blue pill for that :D
