Well, if you've got your own opinion of what proper cricket is, that's fair enough - what I can't fathom, is why you get so offended everytime I mention the phrase 'Proper Cricket'.

It's come up loads of times in the past, everytime I say the phrase you are up in arms dismissing my statement and asking why I think or feel the way I feel.

In my view, proper cricket is Test and First Class, and as you mentioned, white clothing and a red ball.

If you have a completely different view, fair play to you - you are wholly entitled to it.

If you want to research more though, create a thread on it - 'What do you believe Proper Cricket is' - and see what people come up with. Ultimately, its totally subjective. It's exactly like the phrase 'playing football the right way' - what is the right way?

The answer to your question is s find the term snobbery I really do and hate that in any form.

I find it disgraceful to the highly talented people playing other forms of the game for them to be labelled not playing ‘proper cricket’

I have nothing against people preferring the longer format to the shorter format that’s entirely their choice, but for them to label other formats not proper cricket I find old fashioned,disrespectful and childish.

I don't think they are arguing that the standard is good mind, what they arguing rightly or wrongly is that maybe they is people who would like to watch women's cricket and without any exposure no one ever will.

Me personally I don't watch women's cricket, can only fit soo many sports on our telly as it is with 2 kids and our lass, she already complains all I do is watch sport, women's cricket might tip her over the edge

However and I am deadly serious as I said earlier would rather watch a close women's one day game than watch that young opening batsman from Lancashire bat, because I would rather watch paint dry than him.

Most would close the curtains if club cricket was being played in their back garden yet because the participants in this case have tits and a blurt (yes I’m being course again to emphasise point) people want to watch it and are happy that it’s merits are being judged on the same level as the male game (see wisden cricketers of the year).
Let’s be honest here the people advocating the pushing of the women’s game are the sort of people who sit in cereal cafes reading the guardian and seemingly in some bizarre competition with everyone to show how tolerant and forward thinking they are.
I remember Sepp Blatter got in bother when he mentioned women in football wearing skimpy gear and getting all nicely done up to attract more punters. The tut tutting from the lefties was audible however if it came off I bet the hypocritical fuckers would’ve been tuned in. That’s the reality of a lot women’s sport im afraid.

Well it’s rammed down our throats in the summer prior to the men’s games usually so obviously see bits and pieces and it’s pretty poor really. Might as well show some local club cricket as it’s about that standard. Doesn’t make it anymore entertaining just be cause they have tits and a fanny.

I’d say his comments were regarding the very real fact that sex sells. Women’s football and sport in general will always be a poor substitute for the male game so sex it up a bit. Just look at an international game played by England women other day that may as well have been played on Thompson’s Park! Not very PC or advisable to say publically granted mind.
As for not judging it on the same level 3 women have just been named wisden cricketers of year which is up against male cricketers. A complete nonsense. Have a female category by all means mind.

As far as I can tell, Simon Mann (for one) didn’t play first class cricket. And several of the other men had very ordinary first class careers.

IMO most people will end up following sports their parents are interested or involved in. My old man liked football, cricket and boxing. No surprise that I fell into that. No doubt my young uns will do the same. Also providing it’s being practiced in schools then people will gain an interest if it takes their fancy. That is far more likely to get people participating than seeing a duff game on the tele. Even women prefer to watch the men’s game ffs

Now again this isn’t me saying they shouldn’t participate. Do you understand that as you seem to be having trouble with your understanding so far.
