Surely there comes a point when doctors have to step in? He’s probably already going to suffer badly in later life now nevermind any more concussions if he keeps going

Although helmets are good at what they do, it does seem to make players either overconfident and risking being hit and/or letting them think that avoiding the ball is no longer the best method of not being hit.
