given that there is less than half the season left why would a club come in for Maja is what I dont understand, unless they were crying out for a goal scorer but one who has not proven himself in a higher league.......so just wait until his contract runs out and get him for nowt ??

remember that guy we were after cant remember his name, who chose Bristol City over us and he flopped totally and couldn't do it in a higher league...bugger what was his name !

Then there's Asoro, another who thought the grass was greener and yes he's getting paid more but only to keep a leather chair warm all season...

why would we want them to leave..some of the them are the best players we have...
I personally think they would take any offer, even a free if anyone would take Cattermole or Oviedo, this would surely free up tens of thousands of pounds a week in wages and let’s face it they wouldn’t really be missed would they?

I don't think the owners could be more honest and open without compromising our dealings tbh.

Dunno what people want, the Mags get told fuck all.
Slowly but surely the serial whingers are coming out.

Ross having a pop about the Striker situation now............New regime, but nowt changes in January eh?

Shorts statement when he sold the club. Forget about that?
so short said it..not the owners? and how are you deifning a consortium? there are three shareholders (i suspect it will soon be four) from two countries..that could be a consortium..and these owners are happy to fund losses this year and next and fund what will very likely by the end of this tranfers window the biggest spend on transfer fees in this division..they are not the rochest owners in this league and certainly not the one above..but league rules mean a lot now..a saudi prince that owns one of the championship teams ?9either forest or sheffield united quoted the rules the day he tookj over) he is at least seven times ris]chwer than our owners but unless their turnover is seven times higher than ours (it wont be) he cant spend that much more.
and in the prem most teams make a profit..

If used wisely the potential return on that weekly sum could prove greater than their contribution. Trick is to find someone who needs them enough to be prepared to match their wages.

interesting idea...i suppose you would have to on the basis that while catts plays well for us when we play..he doesnt play that often..oviedo isnt in the team either..
but i doubt the owners would sell mcgeady who would fit into the "high or average earners" categoory and is among the best perfomrers we have...

a foreign club likely will. an English club won't get him for free though, hence they may think we will take less now than chance our arm in a tribunal.

cattermole would be and is when he's not out of the team. I think the problem with Oviedo is that we still owed on him during last summer (might do now) and hence wouldn't let him go without that and/or his wages being covered.

letting the likes of cattermole go would be mad at this stage given his importance and the fact were already short.

When will people realise the new guys don't have cash to splash while we have way too high earners in L1 !! They are good at PR and have fans onside so can stumble through January saying we are trying but at the end things didn't come off ! They are relying on Wkye coming good, Watmore getting fit and gradually blooding the likes of Mumba and Kimp at 1st team level

From SD himself:

But Donald has confirmed that he is willing to back Ross in the market if the Scot and his recruitment team can identify suitable targets - with the Black Cats' chief believing it would be 'criminal' if the club failed to strengthen during the month.

"We can do whatever Jack [Ross] wants to do, within reason," added the chairman."

"But will we back Jack Ross? Yes."

"We have got ourselves into a position where it would be criminal not to strengthen our squad to try and make sure we have the best squad for the back end of the season and we are committed to doing that."
