Wigan make another massive loss

Sorry if I'm being stupid here but what can are the Premier League kicking down the road with regards to league 1 teams spending millions they don't have?
The profit and sustainability / ffp rules in the premier league have a massive knock on effect on the rest of the domestic leagues

But they have rules, aye they are changing them again but the efl have their own rules which Wigan (and every other club) need to be sticking to. I just can't see how it's their fault that Wigan spend money like they are getting 30k fans a week and better sponsorship deals than they actually get.

Look as shit as it is a club of that size with the fan base it has is going to struggle to spend next to anything and be sustainable. Look at the loses we made, we'll no doubt make another loss despite massive crowds and second tier football with a smallish wagebill for a club in this division. Sustainability is absolutely pie in the sky.

The PL has a lot to answer for but the stupidity of FL club owners and or boards is no one’s fault but their own.
It may well get the stage where simply being well-run is enough to be better than most of the other clubs in the league.
Aye. That’s a part of “the model” I reckon.

Naaah. Don’t spend more than you earn isn’t pie in the sky. How high up the pyramid it’s going to get you may well be unpalatable to fans though.

Sustainability is pretty simple, could be solved within 5 years by just saying clubs can't make a loss otherwise you get point deductions, would really need Fifa to make it worldwide though and the big teams would have a huge advantage but it could happen.

Short term there should be better protection for smaller clubs with homegrown players, limit how many players clubs can loan out, stop multi club ownership or atleast feeder style so clubs can't pick up every decent 10 year old and sell them the dream just to loan them out for 3 seasons then flog them for £10m and record it as pure profit.

Sadly it won't be done as clubs won't vote for it and a lot of fans want instant success, as proven by Wigan, sold the dream and found out it was a nightmare then believed the next dream which was the same. That's not a dog at wigan fans but they are a good example and again not all fans.

That's why they've give youth a chance and they are getting some decent results lately
The new guy has told them there's no cash
