Wickets to be renamed 'outs' for The Hundred

I thought England paid his wages myself
If it achieves it objectives and more people and youngsters pick up a ball and bat and play more at a young age and increase people playing club cricket that can only be a good thing!!

If it fails then we back where we at now where local clubs are folding struggling to field teams and youngsters will continue to not play cricket and prefer PlayStation’s etc.
Durham does a lot for stokes and will continue to do so. With very little to no benefit to the county

If they move on to proper cricket sure.

I just don't see what this achieves that they couldn't have been done pumping even a quarter of the budget into the existing t20

This. Exactly.

With the UK being the only place Test Cricket is being played in June/July/August, they could have created a 'window' of say a month, had all of the worlds top players available and made the T20 the exciting tournament it was back in 2003.

Meaningful matches and less dead games at the end of an overblown league format.

They are trying too hard to make it different when only minor tweaks were required.

That would be the same for most top international cricketers on central contracts.

That situation is not inclusive to Durham
First sentence, complete disdain for Durham.

Second, could have been much more effectively in conjunction with the counties. This has got nothing to do with getting people to play cricket, it's about watching a different game on telly and selling merchandise. The fact they had to lie about it from the start should set huge alarm bells off in any cricket fan's mind.

Third, and with over £100m having been sucked out of the game.

Best case scenario for cricket is that it fails quickly and we can restore the Blast and the 50 over competition. Hopefully before everyone forgets about the World Cup win.
And if your right on your last sentence participation will continue to drop and local clubs will continue to fold and struggle to field teams.

That is and always has been my primary concern, local club cricket which is getting worse and worse every year in terms of participation imo

Didnt say it was and didn’t say it was right either.

And why is that? Isn't it because it's not possible to put cricket on free to air television? Isn't it because there's no central funding to help youth cricket?

That's what we've been told for the last 20 years.

I mean, it's been proven to be a load of horseshit, but it must be true because they said so. Imagine what the game could have done with this kind of investment, if only it was possible......

Yeah whatever achieves the objective of getting more people playing at local club level I am all for.

Whatever it is hundred, more investment revamping the blast, more free to air tv

I am just interested in something working to achieve that objective, so anything that can possibly do that want to work.

Don’t want anything to fail whatever it maybe that could achieve that

And still struggle despite many many posts on the subject how others would want something to fail that could possibly do that!

I don't understand why people would back something that excludes the North East, I don't understand why people would back something with the explicit intention of excluding cricket fans, I don't understand why people would back something which is taking all the game's precious resources out of the grass roots game, I don't understand how people can back something which has already started to kill the domestic game, I don't understand how people can back something which has already been shown to lie about game in it's current form..... etc etc etc.

But if you haven't grasped the reasons by now, you never will!

People said about the the blast when it started and now it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

People don’t like change but change is needed to get more people into the game.

How people cannot see local club cricket participation is falling year after year is beyond me and that something needs to be done

How far are the ecb willing to change cricket to make money? Will it be the same sport in the end or will it be more like baseball?
More likely to watch the coverage Sat than this 100 shite.

And as you keep repeating, you see this as the vehicle to do it. I find that bizarre.

This is a power grab, nothing more nothing less. I think it's very sad that people are actively supporting something which takes cricket away from the region. It's really sad that people want Durham excluded from the game, I will never understand it.

It’s designed to pool the best players in the 8 franchises and if the counties fall by the wayside, they don’t see a problem.

it’s what Graves was in it to achieve, the stupidity on the name player like root going to notts is incredible.

still it’s going to happen and when the fad drops away, they will be relying on the members to fill the seats

the t20 got full houses initially as everyone in the England team took part. Now I’m not expecting to see stokes or wood ever playing for durham again.

The majority of games are going to be on Sky, is it 8 that are on the BBC?

It's almost as if the whole free to air thing was a massive steaming pile of horseshit designed to turn heads.
The bbc games will be centred on London imo. So yes it will look great at the oval where the t20 was full anyway.

still let’s have the north east kids watching this on the bbc and say I would love to go to a game in person. 100 plus mile round trip these days, very unlikely

so they will move onto the next thing, which they can actually experience in person

I suppose 'steaming pile of shite' fits with the ECBs business plan so fair enough

The 8 grounds where these will be played will be moneyspinners and then that will be used to try and make the likes of stokes a full time player, affiliated at the club where the franchise is based

it’s a tapping up charter this exercise and those deemed not worthy will see their players whisked away
