Two snoozing giants. One valued at £50 million with another £70 million? debt?

The other £250 million+

One benefits from a place in the Premiership (for now)

The other is in the Championship (for now)

Would the value be with the higher priced club given that they still need an overhaul to keep their Prem place or us as the investment to get the ball rolling wouldnt need to be as high?

I can see advantages in both but for me the temptation of taking a club on its absolute arse and rebuilding it would be much more fun.

Everything is there for the right person to create a monster of a club and legacy and lets be honest you know if you fuck it up at least nobody will protest or even call for Boycoutts

We will be 50m with an additional 60m in debt with the need to invest over 100m to get where any new owners would want us to be, we do have 100m worth of assets though. Mags cost around £250m. So bizarrely it's us, just . Boro don't count.

Neither. You'd need to throw such an idiotic amount at both just turn them around. You'd not see any kind return for a very long time

We don't need 100m in playing staff

We really do like. We need 25 new players if we are going to be stable in the prem, that's conservative at 4m a player. And if any owner doesn't want us to be stable in the prem they can get fucked and buy the mags.

But, if you were loaded and wanting a rich boys play thing then both clubs have equally as much potential as Manchester City without the fuck on of building a new ground etc? Both clubs have cracking facilities and sell out 50k is crowds if you even threatened to deliver a half decent product (fuck me we were 40k plus watching 10 years of utter chod)

For £250 million you would have a decent mid table Prem outfit which will still be £500,000,000 shy of Man Citys starting 11

Throwing ridiculous money at staying in the prem is what got us in this mess in the first place.

Fuck the prem, I just want a team that aren't utter shite.

Remove the North East bias for a moment and ask yourself would it be a better purchase to buy Bolton or Swansea/Southampton?

Newcastle without a doubt. They are in the PL already, have 50k+ crowds and there's a huge TV deal on the horizon. It's hurts to admit it but its true.

I meant initial layout. They may well be worth that much but you don't pay it up front. Time you sell on some etc the up front needed to get out of this league wouldn't be mental.

Said it all along on here when a few mags scoffed at us as an alternative. If City's owners had gone for us or the mags either club would be sat where City are now. A clubs potential is down solely to what the owner puts in nowadays

True, I was being particularly slap dash and unnuanced for the sake of a quick post. On average though I would assume that by the time we are stable in the prem again there will have been 100m net spent on the side.

Genuinely no and the reason being a number of things that they dont have and we do, mega history, massive support, massive ground and cheap as chips. None of them are sleeping giants or even big clubs, for me the attraction of buying a club would be turning a sleeping giant into one having a rave coked up to its eyeballs....In that respect the ones that would interest me would probs be (in no particular order)

Sunderland
Scum
Leeds
Sheff Wed
Villa

If you want a return on your investment they're all a waste of money.
If you want to run a club that can sustain itself and remain in the Prem then at the moment the Mags are a better bet just now. The difference could be much bigger by the Summer but it could have narrowed considerably. No one in their right mind would currently pay the going rate for a Premier / Championship club given the precarious position both clubs are in.
