West Indies Tour 2022

I think Malan has been harshly dropped as well unless he’s asked for some time off.

I could live with that if it means Stokes isn’t bowling, if he is then he’s surely batting too high

Malan already missed the birth of his child in Australia and I believe it was an early/complicated birth. Had him down as missing this series but hopefully not pushed out the side again

Have to click on the first one to see it in full, the middle tweet he’s liked is pretty strong.

I’m not defending the decisions but it’s absolutely nothing to do really with his average is it

They are trying it without them just to see what the dressing room is like

They’ll be rightly pissed off like

Root has grassed Broad and Anderson up to the ECB for being bad influencers in the dressing room

Soft as shite this England team, can see why they wanted Silverwood to stay

He didnt say what hettonlass said at all mind if you watch the video

in fact he said the exact opposite, nothing to do with attitude all to do with having a look at different players and bowlers in different situations

I just feel such a waste Root moving up to 3 and then picking Lawrence and Pope

we know all about them 2, just a complete waste of a tour where we could have looked at someone else

I mean how many chances does Ollie Pope get, its remarkable

Got no issue with looking at different bowlers/players but leave out Woakes and Overton not your 2 best bowlers. They need to start winning games of cricket.
Dobell now saying Lawrence might end up as an option to open ffs - why not just take another top 3 batsman, Bracey deserved another chance for me.
Agree on Pope, needed to go back to Surrey and score runs at 3. Certainly shouldn’t have made this tour

Aye, they are saying its the opporunity for Woakes to lead the attack

he isn't good enough, thats nothing to do with leadership

Aye I just find the batting confused, perplexing and completely wasted

What annoys is people just saying these are the best players, nothing we can do

Sorry there are loads and loads of players who could be given a go in the middle order if thats the position that is now open

We know for sure that Ollie Pope cant score runs consistently, we know that. I find that one of the worst selections in recent times, its just mental.

Pope will fail againt then we will have the usual stuffa bout pitches, schedule, county champiosnip

Er No, how about just picking somebody else
I cant think of a cricketer less suited to opening than Dan Lawrence

I quite like the squad selection by and large.

A guy like Bairstow who has 7 test 100s needs to be at 4. With 2 relatively new openers, you need a good no.3 we now have one. No point taking a 39 year old seamer who cant bat so agree Anderson should have been left out. Nice to see them stick with Pope, he is clearly rated and throwing a young lad into the car crash of our top 5 and Silverwood as coach no wonder he has struggled, ala same with Lawrence. I would have taken Broad however instead of Woakes, as at 35 and can hold a bat has a bit more to offer than Jimmy. It would be good if we could start batting 1-9 again similar to when we were last a good test side. The likes of Robinson, Wood etc need to develop into guys who can average 20 like Giles use to.

It would be nice if we actually saw some improvement in players techniques and mental application, something which was awash with Flower and Fletcher but has been amiss under Silverwood.

It’s a sensible but the pope one isn’t right like

He’s batted 6, the plumb position for over 2 years now. He’s been awful

So many chances. It’s also not true he comes in like 30/5 every innings

He’s had every opportunity and every scenario and doesn’t have it

If he scores runs here part of me will still be annoyed as I think of the talented lads in England who weren’t given over 20 tests to keep failing time after time

Sometimes your face just fits

That’s the issue with England. As it’s centralized, once you are in the dressing room on a central contract you always get picked in the squads

Regardless of form

It’s a real kick in the teeth to other young batsman in the country

We are going to a tough tour and the only change to our top 6 is gonna be lees

How is that acceptable after the last year?

You are talking as of this series is a warm-up for something though. It’s as if everything that isn’t the Ashes is a pre-season friendly now cos they haven’t picked the best side to win this series.

This is what's frustrating. I understood but disagreed with saving people for the Ashes. But what are they saving players for now?

I agree they should have picked Broad but the side needs to move on from Anderson. They have a no.11 in Leach

Why do your bowlers need to bat? We could do with the batsmen being able to do that for starters

Fuck me these covid tests aren't cheap  especially the ones Antigua want where someone has to do it rather than you doing it yourself

Bracey should have been in it.
Clarke for Pope
Yates or Robson would have been my backup opener.
Woakes out for Broad or Anderson
