I went on a school trip to roker park when this was happening, they had a full massive model built and it was in one of the room in roker park i have pics of it somewhere. It looked very impressive, glad it worked out as it did the move to that far out of town wouldve been terrible.

Dig them out and hoy them up ???

wonder what impact being at nissan would have had for attendances
much more of a pissabout to get over there compared to stumbling over the bridge

Love reading that again.... Wearsiders will work, you can get a pint, fish and chips. It looks so outdated already though.

Being that far out would have killed Sunderland city centre too. Would have been criminal looking back to move so far.

Would be easier to get to as the majority of supporters dont live in the city..

well i dont live in the city but if you are going for a few pints - back out to nissan wouldnt be a very appealing option

fair do it would be easier to drive to but i bet a higher proportion of people just walk to the match which wouldnt have been possible there

I loved the idea of the Roker development but deep down, we all know it would never have worked out. It looks outdated now and when you think of the likes of the Emirates, Old Trafford, the redevelopment of White Hart Lane and Liverpool's proposed new ground it would look shabby in comparison. Much like Stamford Bridge, an old ground but developed over the years and it looks it's age.

Anyone remember the scale model of it in a glass case in that little lounge thing at the back of the Main Stand? The one with the couple of subbuteo tables.

No, I just googled it. The original post got my curiosity up so I had a browse and posted what I found. Wouldn't mind seeing it myself if someone else has it.

I still have the referendum flyer in the house somewhere, if I remember on I will dig it out.
