Well done to Dan Neil

You think it’s easy for players to choose to go and play in Europe, of course it will be if you’re happy to play in a lower league for a less prominent team, I don’t see any of the top five teams in either Germany, France, Italy or Spain wanting either of these two and they certainly wouldn’t pay the wages that they both think they’re worth.
plenty of players from Scotland and reserves from Premier league teams playing in France, Germany and Italy top divisions.
So i don't see what a player from a top team in the Championship cant play there

I was a big fan of Neil and defended him against very unfair criticism last season. I thought he was our Player of the Season. I didn't think for one minute he was capable of playing in the Prem though, he isn't quick enough, both physically and speed of thought. Also don't think he is physically strong enough.

Also, when I say 'not physically quick enough', the obvious retort is that Xhaka is hardly pacy, nor is Henderson who has played well there for Brentford. But their positioning and reading of the game is absolutely top class, which Neil doesn't have. He was often just a fraction too slow in the Championship and the Prem is a much quicker league.
You've actually summed up Dan Neil for me. I have nothing against the lad and acknowledge his outstanding contribution to our journey but his short comings are there for anyone without an agenda to see.

Yeah I agree, but you missed out the bit where I questioned which teams would take Clarke or Neil on the wages they deem themselves to be worthy of.

Fact is neither have established themselves as regular starters in a c’ship club which speaks volumes as to whether they would cut the mustard in the premiership
Both were late subs yesterday and were brought on essentially when it was done and dusted
Pleased for both but in premiership terms we haven’t missed either
Jack Clarke is their top scorer and has featured in most, if not every, games.

Nothing better for a Left Winger than to come on in the 70th minute or so with the full back and defence you are up against having ran around all game and you are fresh as a daisy. 😉 Any Winger with an ounce of skill and pace would have a field day and this is exactly what Jack Clarke has done and been utilised to do this Season by Ipswich.

It has paid dividends obviously and elevated Jack's stats and status
as an already very good player.

Not got the stats but arguably not as effective playing as a Starter.

To be a good centre dm you do not need to be ronaldhino just disciplined with a defensive mindset he has the ability to play there in the prem just never got the chance !
If he had the ability then he would have featured more at Ipswich and this summer we would no doubt see him signed by an established premier league club…. Somehow I strongly doubt that any prem team would bother, Ipswich may be the best bet he can hope for and I suspect the following season he will be back in the championship with them if he is the level of signing they would be seeking to make to stay up.

Contrast Xhaka or Sidiki or Le Fee or any of the midfielders in any of the teams not in a relegation position with Dan and you’ll see he’s just nowhere near the level needed.

Good lad, one of our own, but not the level we need to kick on next season. So he goes with our best wishes.

Think Regis wanted him out the door alongside Patterson however they played!
Was like RLB didn’t want to play him at all in case he had a good game! which he is certainly capable of!
Now we will never know if he was good enough or not!

Clarke's their top screen ya gonk. They wouldn't be where they are without him. He saved their skins the other night.

I don't know the lad(s). But I can't image you'd want to go back and do it a third time. Surely you try another league (Scotland)/ living abroad if you can't get a top flight team.

Imagine if a player can't get into a PL squad, the next best thing (career and wages wise) is to develop a reputation for promotion from the Championship to the Premier League. Clubs are spending crazy money for promotion to the PL and Neil will be in demand.

Shame he never got a proper chance in the premier league here! Two promotions in two seasons is some achievement! jack Clarke showing what a player he is! congrats to both!
Great for the lad to get 2 consecutive promotions.

There's now a huge challenge for him - and Clarke.

Can they cut it in the top flight?

Guess so. But you look at how gutted Alan Browne was when we cast him out. I can see for a certain player, they’ll just go fuck it and move to a Rangers, team in the top flight of Italy, France etc. just to give something else a go.

Personally if I had a chance of say a FC Copenhagen with European football and in a mint city (off to the top of my head) I’d probably fancy that vs, the Championship yet again with Wolves or whatever.

Browne is a bit older and the sands of time and all that, Neil has more years to prove himself.

Edit: also guessing a club like Wolves trying for promotion is more likely to splash the cash than FC Copenhagen and other European clubs at that level.
