Well done to Dan Neil

Could have done with him on our left wing!
If Xhaka was out for any extended time we don’t have much cover in dm! Neill could have done a job in there!
Dan did a great job for us and I’ll be forever grateful for what he did.

But…. The standard of players we need to have in the squad to kick on next season are the standard of Xhaka and Mukiele…. Dan is no where near that standard.

No….McKenna is a prick.
He’s a strange manager. I’ve never seen a manager rotate a team quite as often. It seems the entire midfield and forwards play a game, get subbed off, then come on as sub the next game then repeat. I think anybody could’ve got promoted with that squad and he still only just scraped it.

I mean let’s be honest it’s not really a shame Neil didn’t get a chance in the PL.

Great for a homegrown lad to gain promotion with us but he’s clearly not good enough to play in this league. Even dropping a division he wasn’t a regular in Ipswich’s team and I don’t think there’s any clamour from their fans to make the move permanent.

Will have a decent career in the Championship or might get lucky and move to Scotland for some European football, but the only reason we would’ve kept him around was to fulfil our homegrown quota and not because he’s good enough.

Effective squad rotation over a long season and then peaking at just the right time to win promotion.

Wonder if the two things could be linked? 🤔

Hopefully the club put a promotion bonus payment into the loan deal so we’ll get something. Otherwise it didn’t make sense loaning him.

Seeing as he’s had such little game time I can’t see them keeping him. Wonder where he goes next - good signing as a free agent depending on the level.

It’s not effective squad rotation though. Effective squad rotation is leaving players out for a rest when they need to recharge their batteries. Changing your team every game doesn’t allow players to get a proper run in the team and build relationships and understanding on the field.

Just showing your lack of knowledge there whilst trying to be a smart arse with your little emojis

Not recently he isn’t came off the bench & changed the game v the mutants recently
Did same against Southampton midweek. 2-1 down 20 mins to go. Clark on , scores , hits post and s denied a winner by a worldie save.. 17 goals whilst often played out of position and only coming on as a sub. You have to wonder how he woukd have done under a coach who rates him ? DN hasn’t kicked on at Ipswich and has only played a bit part, but I want to echo what the OP said and congratulate him on two promotions in two years. Clark in particular, am looking forward to seeing him in the PL.

Fact is neither have established themselves as regular starters in a c’ship club which speaks volumes as to whether they would cut the mustard in the premiership
Both were late subs yesterday and were brought on essentially when it was done and dusted
Pleased for both but in premiership terms we haven’t missed either
Neil played the full game Southampton away which was probably the key match for Ipswich giving how well Southampton have been playing. QPR at home was always going to be the easier match. For Neil to play 90mins of such an important game indicates that hes seen as an important part of their squad
Alot of Pennas in Clarkes goals

Compare and contrast with our penalty record since he left. Has a really good technique for pens, can't remember any Diarra-esque flukes in his record

To be a good centre dm you do not need to be ronaldhino just disciplined with a defensive mindset he has the ability to play there in the prem just never got the chance !

Clarke is rotated pretty much every game with Jaden Philogene, who is also excellent at the championship level. Between them they've scored about 28 goals. Clarke is Ipswich's top scorer and he has played more minutes than any other forward at the club. Ipswich obviously have a very good and big squad at that level and the manager makes a lot of changes pretty much every game. Clarke has played quite a bit more than Philogene, who cost them £20M from Villa. If either of them can operate successfully in the premier league remains to be seen. McKenna failed to get a tune out of Clarke last time, 32 appearances and zero goals, but as rightly pointed out in another thread, Clarke was played out of position pretty much every time he got on the pitch.

Subbed off in 15 too.
Clark early doors was asked to play as a no10 which didn’t work and it seemed tobyake a hell of a lot of games for the penny to drop for McKenna. Clark wide left doesnt fit NcKenna style , so hom scoring some important goals is a credit to the lad. I’d love to see hom in PL playing as a winger. CANT see it at Ioswich mind.

Sorry, my mistake - I thought they got promoted yesterday and met their season’s goals. 🙋‍♂️

It got him off the books. He had no future here, better to get rid early rather than paying him wages to do nothing.

Clarke is an upgrade on Mundle in that he's always fit to play. I'm still scratching my head at why Mundle has not been loaned out.
Higher potential I think, they’ve taken a chance on him stepping up but unfortunately he’s made of pringles.

I suspect he’ll be loaned next season and his contract ran out without us seeing him play for us again.

Clarke is a very effective Championship player but unfortunately his style just doesn’t quite work against Premier League defences

Neither player are good enough imo. It's just swapping poor for poor in terms of Premier League quality.

We just couldn't replace a full team and a full squad in one window.

Mundle won't have a long term future here imo but I'm happy to be proven wrong.
