56, and it has never, ever been a derbyHow old are you?
If your nearer my age post 40. It’s a derby like.
This could go on forever .56, and it has never, ever been a derby
No such thingWho's looking forward to it, and which team wound Hank support?
I'm 57 think I've only ever met a handful of boro fans my whole lifeI don’t know any Middlesbrough fans so don’t really get worked up by it.
Catchment areas! As I've already said, I count myself lucky that I've seen my club win a trophy and reach a European cup final. Also had the pleasure of seeing amazing talents like Juninho, Mendieta and Viduka play for the Boro. Same can't be said for Sunderland fans around my age.
As for your comment re our support. We may not get the crowds you get (pretty understandable when you factor in catchment areas and ticket pricing) but we had the third highest average home attendance in the Championship last season, and the best away support in the division. We do alright I'd say.
MagSee the rivalary has already started on here
what has 6 miles got to do with it. A catchment area is only as big as the area you draw the bulk of your support. Boro's is mainly drawn from the 3 Teesside borough's of Stockton Middlesbrough and Redcar, other than that we get a few, very few from south Durham and also get some from north north Yorkshire. However this Yorkshire area is big, thinly populated and full of farmers, not your typical footie fans. On the other hand the mags and Yourselves have free reign in Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland. However you split it that's around 2 plus million people you can draw from.Far too much whistling past the graveyard by safc fans on this subjetc. Maybe if everyone starts taking it seriously then we may develop an acceptable record against them because in my lifetime it’s absolutely shameful. Fan since 68-69 season.
Catchment areas!
Givower man head six miles or so from our ground and you’re as near to Syd James‘s as ours. You’ve gotta drive eighteen miles to be equidistant from ours n yours.
Nothing to stop you drawing from south Durham (or anywhere come to that.) it’s a lot easier to get to your place than ours from there. Build better.what has 6 miles got to do with it. This all day56, and it has never, ever been a derby
Well I’m 52 and it was always a game with far more rivalry than most back in the 70s and 80s. Not THE derby, but certainly a game with an edge to it.This all day
