We weren’t outclassed

Big problem in the first half was the wingers not tracking runners. It's one of Villa's strengths playing those balls so we should have been aware of it.

Probably cause they were confused tactically, they were assigned to mark different players than the ones making the runs and didn’t want to get dragged out. Emery got one over on us with his tactics, he was able to create 3v2 triangles out wide.

Just back home and I’m taking more positives than negatives from that performance. We played really well first half and didn’t deserve to be behind at half time. Second half we looked dead and buried with 10 minutes to go yet managed to claw our way back somehow and almost win it at the death.

Diarra will come good. People need to remember he is still a young lad and still adapting to the Premier League. The criticism is well over the top.

But my biggest take from today is that we are a bloody good team. We’ve gone to a Champion’s League team and matched them blow for blow (almost) and outplayed them for long spells.

The future’s bright!!

Yeah that's a fair point. We don't like our midfielders getting dragged out wide when we're defending. We didnt defend our box well either in those situations which is normally one of our strengths.

They aren’t in 4th for no reason!! How about we only narrowly got beat by a late goal after the hardest game Villa have played and we could have taken at least a point from them???? Yard sticks of measurement for next season. We Will develop better 😉

Great game against a fuckin good team

We made mistakes and switched off at the end but it’s not a result to be getting our knickers in a twist about

Hope he proves everyone wrong next season, got a feeling he will
I think he sees us as a stepping stone
Sees himself at a bigger club

Wanted personal glory today
Opted for flashiest option
Should have passed for guaranteed goal
Or took it round the keeper

He does not seem fully committed
(Just my opinion)

Then that’s something that he needs to work on. He needs better awareness of what’s going on around him. If his finishing is so shite, he needs to know how to pass.
I think you're very being very unfair here. He has to focus on scoring in his position and what's in front of him. To have seen Talbi at any point up until he pulls the trigger, Diarra would've had to turn his head way past 90 degrees: backwards.

He should have done better but describing it as the simplest finish or pass you'll ever see just hammers home how little you seem to know about football. Real trend in football nowadays the people who seem to understand the least talk the most
Agreed, bit It’s not just in football that happens. Every topic.

In this case, yes maybe he was being a bit too clever with the chip but the keeper did do well. If he hadn’t saved it we would all be banging on about how cool hs finish was.

We’ve been a good team all seasons

The signs were obvious when we signed the players we did

More frustrating than ever for the 33/1 top 10 bet.

Plenty twists left yet and whilst we might not get Europe which is no failure, the groundwork for the summer and season ahead is laid and our journey goes into 5th gear.

Easy to say sitting and watching. The pass to Talbi was the right decision. But in the moment he's tried to chip him. It's an absolutely brilliant save as well by the way...

Agreed it's a poor decision from Diarra, but people scapegoating him or calling him "shite" because of one bad decision are thick as mince...
Another 2 inchs higher and it was in .. i bet he blasts his next chance in

We went in 2-1 down. At the risk of sounding like Lee Johnson, we were better between the boxes. But we created very little first half.

We found something towards the end. The character of the team has never been in question. They’ve grafted and delivered time and time again this season.

Diarra’s miss was horrific. Like it’s the simplest finish, or pass, you’ll ever see. We should be sat here in 6th.

But Diarra & 09, who are nowhere near the level required, cost us getting anything from that game.
ah there he is

the village idiot
