We weren’t outclassed

I will spend the journey back from Villa Park trying to do exactly that. Hopefully by the time we get back I can work out what the fuck he was doing.
I feel so sorry for the fans who have to travel back home after that result including yourself. It was emotional enough for me in my living room. Absolutely gutting but you have to keep your emotions in check. I’ve learned that much over the years.

On reflection, what a comeback and nearly nick it at the end was an incredible performance by the players.

What a game.

We went in 2-1 down. At the risk of sounding like Lee Johnson, we were better between the boxes. But we created very little first half.

We found something towards the end. The character of the team has never been in question. They’ve grafted and delivered time and time again this season.

Diarra’s miss was horrific. Like it’s the simplest finish, or pass, you’ll ever see. We should be sat here in 6th.

But Diarra & 09, who are nowhere near the level required, cost us getting anything from that game.
Christ you are a right dafty after a defeat mind.

The character shown to get back in was unreal. I was screaming at them to not settle for 3-3 and they didn’t.

But once Diarra missed we looked at each other and we knew what was gonna happen. His miss has taken the heat off how bad our defensive display was.

For a neutral, it was sensational. One day we’ll look back and laugh. We’ve been laughing on the way down at some of the shambolic league one defeats.

They have a very good forward line. Ballard is back next week so plenty to be pleased about.

Haaland misses loads. Not like Diarra misses hatfuls of chances. I thought he was below par this game. Passing was not great. But he's getting a merciless slagging on social media. Horrible stuff.
Nob heads pissed up ! It’s ok to be pissed off but not disrespectful. There’s a limit and difference between opinion and pissed up arseholes being disrespectful, I’ve had it myself on here from one or two in particular. Lack of brain cells

People would've been creaming their knickers if Roefs had pulled that off.

This simply isn't true. He's closed the angles down a lot by that point. I'm not saying Diarra shouldn't do better, but let's not pretend that's a routine stop.
Roefs wouldn't have been going down like Martinez was.

Can't agree with your opinion.

Diarra, if he has to try a chip, has to go the opposite side he did, instead as I've said he puts it in the only place the keeper can get his hand. Imho he should never be trying a chip when both corners were the easier option.

Showboating, much like Le Feè with his Rabona penalty, has again cost us points.

Great game for the neutral but we must now make sure we win the next two.

You can see, if you understand football, Diarra has more than enough about him for a team that has just been promoted. As usual, youre gonna look a **** next season when he scores double figures.

This is a keeper that made a not too dissimilar 1 on 1 save in the last minute of a World Cup final. Yeah, attacker should score but Diarra isn’t the first and won’t be the last that Martinez does this to
Nah he's shite man.

That Donnaruma must be pleased he doesn't play for Sunderland. After this first half fuck up there would be a queue of people ready to sack him or cut his balls off etc.

Fuck sake it was a reasonable effort that the keeper pulled off a very good save. It was about 6 inches away from being a cracking winning goal.

I had no problem with Le Fee trying a rabona. It was great execution but the keeper never moved and made him look like a mug. Shit happens.

We had arguably a better first half than Villa. They were better second half overall. We never gave up, scored 2 late goals when we’d been written off yet again. We could’ve won it but they did, because same as us, they never gave up.

They are a great team but we were able to score 3 against them. We made mistakes, but so do Arsenal, so do Man City. We can’t expect our lads to be perfect and make the right split second decision every time, because the top teams don’t every time either. The fact that this game could’ve been 3 points to us today shows how far we have come and should give everyone encouragement. Villa are a top 4 team, established, in Europe this year fighting for a trophy and in a Champions League qualifying place and we matched them. Anyone can pick fault, but take a step back and see how far we’ve come. The lads deserve encouragement, not some of the grief they’re getting from some fans. We’re not mags you know!
I agree with absolutely everything you say here and tomorrow I will wake up and be over it, but for now I’m going to stay in a huff with myself and hurt a little bit more before I shake it off. You are correct by the way.
