Their record is so similar to ours. Won the top league and FA cup loads of times before WW1. One cup and one league within living memory. Can't deny a fantastic year in '81/2, and a couple of league cups way back then, but apart from that they have been a yo-yo club for the last quarter century.
I'm sure Poch is eyeing up mansions in Solihull:rolleyes:
Yo yo? They've been relegated once in the last 25 years

Really? Comfortably?

Yes. Look at trophies won...

League titles:
Aston Villa 7
Sunderland 6
Newcastle 4
Sheffield Wednesday 4
Leeds 3
Nottingham Forest 1

European Cups:
Nottingham Forest 2
Aston Villa 1
Sunderland 0
Newcastle 0
Sheffield Wednesday 0
Leeds 0

FA Cups:
Aston Villa 7
Newcastle 6
Sheffield Wednesday 3
Sunderland 2
Nottingham Forest 2
Leeds 1

League Cups:
Aston Villa 5
Nottingham Forest 4
Leeds 1
Sheffield Wednesday 1
Sunderland 0
Newcastle 0

Their trophies speak for themselves. They're unpopular on here because of the nobhead Villa fan that posts on here but you cannot deny they're a massive club.

 No fishing here. Read my post above.
Leeds and Skunks will rightly disagree. On par

They'd be very wrong then.

I'm not denying that but you've just shown they're aren't "comfortably" bigger

They are. Look at number of trophies (maybe not fairest way as some prestigious than others but Villa still won the lot):

Aston Villa 20
Newcastle 10
Nottingham Forest 9
Sunderland 8
Sheffield Wednesday 8
Leeds 5

That list makes mags look better as a lot of theirs are cups not leagues but Villa still way ahead. They've won at least twice as many trophies as all the other clubs you mentioned.

Or your definition might be

The only big club to play in the second tier...โ€ฆ Assume Man United are conveniently forgotten!!!
They probably are the biggest to have played in second tier since Spurs in 78. Chelsea maybe in the 80s
