var is right
Exactly. We’ve got to a point where bureaucrats (and some ex players) are shouting about how great the technology is and what it can do etc etc - but if it’s picking things up the players can’t control,or the refs can’t ever see (the 0.01mm offside issue or the brush against someone’s arm) then it’s not what is needed. Turn it off, close down the VAR vans or whatever they are called and restore some common sense please. Would also save however much Alan shearer is coIning in from being the VAR ambassador for the premier league which again is just a complete nonsense. That disallowed goal for City was a disgrace
For me that’s why it should be scrapped
So why wasn't VAR used fir the Man City pen when Sterling was grappled to the floor
Also bet the " handball " incident wouldn't have resulted in a pen if it had been the other way round
In 5 years time we will wonder what we did without it, and how silly we were asking officials to use the same tools there had a 100 years ago just their eyes.
It is clear as day officials need help.
No idea I have no say on them decisions, you asking the wrong person mateAgain I'll ask why wasn't VAR used for the Sterling penalty incident
Currently watching MOTD. And guess what? EVERY time a goal was scored, the crowds celebrated as normal.
Almost as if the "You CaNt CeLeBrAtE a GoAl AnYmOrE" brigade are just a bunch of dramatic gimps. #var
Its 2 games in. Wait till each set of fans have been stung with it a couple of times. It will have a big effect.
People on here championing it are just trying to be alternative, cool or controversial.
It's clear that 99% of normal people think its utter shite
As has already been said, if it had hit the defenders arm (which it may have) rather than the attacker then a penalty would not have been given, is that fair?By the way, the City goal was right to be chalked off. It's football, not handball for fucks sake.
People just hate change.
I’m old school and hate everything about it, can’t go mental for a goal as you have to keep one eye on the ref.
I like the debate after games about how shite the ref was, did he didn’t he get the decision right.
Also with the handball rule, what’s stopping an attacker flicking the ball up onto the defenders arm for a pen?
As has already been said, if it had hit the defenders arm (which it may have) rather than the attacker then a penalty would not have been given, is that fair?
If it’s handball then it’s handball regardless of if it’s a forward or a defender, or are you advocating two different sets of laws?r
The fact that it wouldn't be awarded as it wouldn't be considered handball.
Yes it is. I don't see the problem with the two being different.
But there are two different sets of laws. The ref has used VAR to enforce them but its the laws that's the problem, not VARIf it’s handball then it’s handball regardless of if it’s a forward or a defender, or are you advocating two different sets of laws?
I agree, it’s the law that needs reviewing (sensibly) and the ref didn’t use VAR, some bloke sat in a cabin somewhere did, the referee gave a goal. But there are two different sets of laws. The ref has used VAR to enforce them but its the laws that's the problem, not VAR
