Ukranian refugee visiting for Rotherham

Actually, the more I think about it the more a fundraiser sounds ideal. Not just for this lad, but something where our fans can donate and next season money can be spent on tickets and safc merchandise for any refugees who have arrived and want to watch some football. There's loads of great fund raising going on for the humanitarian drive in and bordering Ukraine, but this could be a really good thing to do locally

I would chip in.

Thanks everyone, Il post up a full update this evening after work with some further details and photos etc. Watch out on the clubs official channels too as I'm sure they will be posting something.

What a fantastic evening for the lad, and the other Ukrainian family we met. Not the result we all wanted, it was a tough game. So pleased we got the equaliser.

Thank you everyone for all the support!

Most important thing is did he enjoy himself and do we have a new generation of long term sufferers :)

Really good seeing you yesterday mate. The kids all seemed to be loving it and I'm glad they had such a good time. I was extra buzzing for the equaliser knowing that it would help make their day!

A fair number have been in touch about whether this kind of thing could be extended next season so that anyone arriving could come and experience a game. I've messaged RAWA about it and will follow up with them. I hope it's something they'll support but there's loads on here very keen to support it so it's something I think we should do regardless. I mentioned it to Chris Waters yesterday in terms of whether the club would support (we'd be raising all the money for the tickets and merchandise etc but they can help with promoting it and making trips extra special) and he suggested the club would be on board. Like I say I'm going to try and get RAWA on board first but as a message board I think we should do it regardless so I'll definitely organise something and I'll start a new thread for it at the end of the season

Great stuff, GG. 👍

There's a fair amount of negativity, currently surrounding our club, but our fans willingness to contribute to needy causes, is most certainly a huge positive. (The Ukrainian lad, Virtual Wembley tickets, and Bradley Lowery) were just a few instances, in which fundraising efforts, have been superbly supported, by our very generous & charitable fans.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
