Travelling by Car to Wembley

Status
Not open for further replies.

@Ginger John sent me a brilliant PM last night. I hope he won't mind me sharing but he did say it was said with my safety in mind. My only fear travelling these-days is the possibility of a crash. Nothing else phases me at any driving journey. It really doesn't. I am confident. I am sensible and responsible so I do not take ridiculous risks like speed or brake any law, and when facing a long car journey I am mindful to take all steps to safeguard my health and well-being by taking regular breaks, turn up the volume on the music (which does help) and maybe buy a tea or bottle of fruit juice to takeout which staves off tiredness as coffee doesn't I believe.

I am of the mindset that how can we know and how can we find out things unless we try? Nothing has ever been achieved or found out not doing anything for the first time.

On September 7 1838 did it deter Grace Darling saying to herself "I have never saved lives before so I don't think I should go out to the survivors of the Forfasrshire"? No. She did it anyway despite it being her first time she and her father saved the lives of 9 people. Four men and a woman in the beginning and then William and three of the men went and saved four more.

Would we have lifted the 1973 FA Cup had Ian Porterfield said "I don't think I should be a footballer because I have never really played the game before"? He did it anyway despite it being the first time and became one of the most loved and famous legends of our club and scored the most famous goal in our history.

Look back at all the big good moments in history (not the bad) be it political or scientific or whatever and imagine a world where the people in it had decided not to do it because they had never done it before and it was the first time.

That is how humans have evolved and developed. Because we have found out and discovered for ourselves whether or not we can do it by doing it anyway despite it being the first time.

I am still open to driving. But at the moment I can see a lot of benefits to taking the coach.
Reminds me of the time when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour ;)

I'm sorry I snapped. You don't deserve it. Your a good bloke I bet and have probably been good to me. but have you any idea how long it took for me to put that together? I was even thinking about it most of last night at work. This thread and some of the replies has dominated my thoughts the last few days or so.

It's an excellent thread mate, congratulations.

Can't decide. Don't laugh but as a child if I had a choice to make I got this dice which is one of my most cherished possessions. It is small but is sky blue and white in colour and has a marbled effect to it. I play a game. The rules are thus:..

*Decision A is allocated numbers 1, 2 and 3.
*Decision B is allocated numbers 4, 5 and 6.
*I throw the dice three times in the air. What set of numbers lands on face side up the most time wins that "set".

(for example should it be 4, 4 and then 6 then Decision B wins the first "set" because numbers 4 and 6 remember I have allocated to Decision B and wins 3-0. At no time did any of the numbers 1, 2 or 3 occour.)

*I have two more "sets" and what decision wins the most sets is the one I go with.

Example:

Set 1: 4 - 4 - 6. Decision B wins 3-0. All numbers are numbers given to Decision B.
Set 2: 1 - 5 - 2. Decision A wins 2-1. One number is a number given to Decision A but two numbers are given to Decision B.
Set 3: 6 - 3 - 1: Decision A wins 2-1. Again one number is a Decision B number but two are numbers given to Decision A.

Decision A is what I go with. It wins 2-1. So should Decision A be the car I would drive down.

All 3 marra.

As a child I had to do things three times before I was satisfied. That's strange because I'm very much an even numbers person.* What's even stranger is that I wasn't diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder until I was 23.

*If you do drive it would be wise to ensure the radio volume is on an even number btw.

Don't dice with death mate or your number could be up. Book a hotel.

Have you got a ticket for final?

Not yet marra. Every time the postie comes I get excited. Go to the inside door to the porch to find a white envelop on the doormat which contains.....a small clothing and gifts catalogue called Chums.

The good people at Wembley may ask for ID to confirm you are me and to ask you questions about me. Can you do that?

That's me introducing myself as @ShieldsBlackCat2015 when I get there then

I doubt anyone could pass themselves of as anywhere as good looking as me though.

32 pages, 621 posts, 10s of car parks looked at, PMs to set his phone up to sync with his car, a play list and he's going by coach.

All inclusive me. Something for everyone.

I guess I am just indecisive. I tend to always look back on decisions not made and think "What if". What if I had done this or that. What if I would have been OK. Like I said, we can only find out if we are OK or if we can do it by doing it. We can't do it merely thinking about whether or not we can. Mankind has always just done it. Look at two hero's of mine - Donald Campbell and father Malcolm Campbell. They didn't sit at home over a cuppa and talk about whether or not they can break the speed record on land or water. Despite how much risk and danger was attached. They put their money where their mouth is. They went ahead and did it. They got the team together to built and test the Bluebird cars and boats and went out and put it all on the line. Malcolm actually died of a series of strokes in 1948. Not crashing at over 300mph at Bonneville. But Donald died finding out. That's what makes me glad he died that way. He died exploring his own possibilities and capabilities.

That is something that is biting away at me right now even having played that rather silly game but one I feel is important.

:lol::lol:

Where are you sitting? :D

Have you got on a coach?

Please tell me you are joking!!:lol:

I am sitting in my room.

I have got on a coach. Not in about 5 years though.

Are you flirting with me SBC?

So you have a ticket bought for the final but as yet no travel arrangements.

Are you on a budget? Time constraints?

If not why not come down the night before for the party?
