Too soon for Henderson to come back?

I dont think that would happen tbh

8+ years liverpool captain
70+ england caps
European cup winner
Premier league winner

but you need to be on 10 bob a week the same as abdoullah
Well if you’re thinkings right he won’t come. Fairy nuff.
However he’s made a shit load of money, doesn’t need any more and loves our club. This will be his last roll of the dice.
Let’s see.
Btw I don’t give a feck what he’s done in the past, if he can come back here and help our club, his club, let’s have it.

Just a matter of months ago the vast majority of people were (rightly) calling out his decision to take the cash from a state owned Saudi club. The equivalences were made to NUFC. If he returns to Sunderland, and defences are put forward for Henderson, the moral high ground is ceded.

And seemingly, it’s starting prior to there even being substance to the story of his return.
The equivalence is bollocks. He was an idiot going there because he’d played the moral high ground on social issues then took their money. It is not the equivalent of becoming a literal arm of a despotic state. Those that think it is have totally lost their heads over the NUFC thing.
Maybe city? But if Real Madrid come calling then yes you are probably right. However I’m not gunning for a champions league. I don’t think even clough and Taylor could pull off what they did in 79 and 80 now.
If Madrid want anyone, they get them.

Him and his Dad apparently approached the club towards the end of the 2022/23 season making it clear that he’d be interested in a return.

Personally wouldn’t want him back here after the Saudi farce.
So who else does that rule out?
Were you fuming when Michut and Doyle came here on loan?

I think you’re entirely missing the point.

There is an equivalence for the reasons for criticism of Henderson and NUFC. The reasons are the same. Both sold themselves for the riches of Saudi Arabia. Both entities had made themselves allies of particular causes (Henderson LGBT and NUFC fans opponents of nefarious business practices) and then sold out with the whiff of oil money.

SAFC fans on here criticised Henderson for his decision to go there in the same way they criticised NUFC. If he returns and defences are being provided, it’s quite obviously hypocritical and more or less exactly what Mags do with the whataboutery and distraction.

It just isn’t an equivalence in any way.

He would be a fantastic signing. Even for development purposes

I’m still not happy about the Saudi thing like
I couldn’t care less about him going to Saudi to be honest. That’s got nothing to do with why I’m wary about having him back. I don’t think he’s finished either. I just don’t think it’s a good stance for the club to take. Go and spend you career elsewhere and then come back when your legs are going to help us out. It makes us look pathetic.
