To be fair he isn’t trying particularly hard.

In mitigation it may be because he’s slow, weak and his second touch is a tackle

Oh so he did come over and clap the fan's. Some people said he just stormed off. Not people on here, people I know. Also said a player had a go at him.

How do we know Brighton or someone in Watson’s camp didn’t want the deal announced?

I’m sure RLB wouldn’t have wanted the distraction and noise at this point in the season.

Other thing for me is we all knew Clarke was away before the window closed (I get a deal wasn’t agreed) but the lad was still putting in maximum effort every week and his body on the line risking a PL move.

Watson’s attitude and performances have been completely unprofessional and incredibly disrespectful to the club (who he claims to support & pay him) his teammates and the supporters.

He was one of the first to come over albeit from a distance, he clapped the fans for a little while but was first to go down the tunnel. It looked like one of the players said something to him about him heading off the pitch as Watson turned around, probably telling him to stay out longer.

He may have been one of our better players against Swansea but was still only rated about 6/10. I agree that he gives us better shape but Watson is getting questioned about his effort levels and I feel Roberts' effort levels have been poor for weeks. He was poor yesterday and was the main culprit against Coventry where he was frankly pathetic. We need better - either somehow Roberts ups his performance or we get someone better. Compare Mundle when he plays and you see more threat, more defensive cover and tackling and all round more effort.

Possibly did request it but the club should have realised that announcing the deal would only have a negative effect, the transfer window isn’t open so we didn’t have to do it. We’ve created our own problem.

Clarke deal wasn’t finalised and he’s a much better player. Watson is still very raw and has a lot of areas he needs to improve, especially defensively so he’s going to make a lot more mistakes make less tackles etc . Not saying he is putting 100% in but his poor performances aren’t all down to effort. We should just drop him from the squad as he’s not a Jack Clarke where his ability would cover the fact he’s leaving.

That's exactly what happened from where I was standing. Was an uncomfortable moment but surely he didn't expect anything else after his performance today and the way the transfer has been dealt with.

Absolutely piss poor from RLB. For me and I said at the start once they made the announcement that he should be nowhere near the 1st team. Lads an 18 year old boy who has played a handful of games and looked decent in a couple of them before he got injured. Was just going through the motions yesterday. Even Danny Collins had a subtle dig yesterday. The only bloke who couldn’t see it was the manager. That should be his last ever appearance for SAFC. I don’t think it will though.

he did come over, yes. clapped a bit whilst staring into space then walked off. i never noticed any interaction with any of the other players mind. he also came out well before the rest of the team for the second half which i thought was a bit embarrassing.
i don't mind if players are leaving and i wish them well. they have a short career and perhaps he's going for the money/ambition to play in the premier, that's fair play. i really don't care but i'd like them to show a bit professionalism and at least look as though they're trying. i know it's different and jack clarke was still our player but when he had his head turned and it was obvious he was leaving i don't recall him virtually downing tools like watson appears to have.

This. It wasn't the club that wanted to announce the sale. I suppose it would have become common knowledge soon enough like, but they weren't happy at it coming out when and how it did
 
I'm pretty sure he's playing because Mundle isn't necessarily going to be ready for the playoffs. That leaves Mayenda on the left or using Le Fee. He clearly needs to be kept fit and ready, but won't be starting if Mundle is fit later on. Don't think Watson would get anywhere near starting if we had other options.

Not surprised, the last thing we needed with a playoff campaign ahead.

Hindsight is a a wonderful thing but given Watson’s performances since we’d have been better off cashing in during the January window.

He’s absolutely no use to us and is actually having a detrimental effect in RLB selecting him.
 
To be honest the more I think about it the more I think getting £10 million is as much daylight robbery as getting that for a crocked Ross Stewart was. He could turn into a cracking player, but it’s a bit mental when you think that Brighton are paying that based on what, two to three good senior first team appearances? Big gamble from them.
