Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Burnley received a total of £12M from Liverpool. £6.5m upfront + £1.5m from appearances+ £4M when he was sold to Southampton.

That was 9 years ago for the initial fee.
So £6.5m for this mystery premier league player. We were getting £13m for an injured 18yr old who wants to leave.

Young lad with immense talent but wantss to leave his home club asap.....i dont understand it.

if its all about money then that is surely short sighted for his career......I dont know why he just doesnt sign a contract but ask for a trigger fee to be inserted. He can have best of both worlds then, enhnacing his career with his club knowing that if he impresses and a dream move comes along they can trigger a fee and he can go.
I doubt he ever wanted to leave. Same with Clarke. I actually think a lot of footballers are probably quite happy where they are as long as they're playing.

There comes a time though when a club has to at least listen to offers on the table, and when they do that the player himself needs to start weighing things up. And there will be an element of "well if the club's listening to offers then they mustn't really want me" going through the player's mind. They're human beings and they're in a profession where a lot of them want to feel looked after.

Football fans are too cynical, and focus too heavily on the money, because at the end of the day it's often sums most of us could never comprehend earning.

There's no way Tommy Watson walked off the pitch in his last game thinking I'm worth more money than these are offering and I want out.

Bloody hell ... Brighton, who have raked in hundreds of millions for players, are trying to hand us a relative pittance for someone priceless.

To be fair he's played 5 games of professional football in the league below. It's not really a unfair price imo.

Danny Ings and other players being compared to really aren't comparable at all as they had played literally 100+ games.

If he is looking for game time, hope he remembers Clark going to Spurs as 19yr old super kid for 10mill. I would say the equivalent of 13million in today's market
