Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Watson has great potential but I agree he’s going to have little impact this season. If we don’t go up he could be huge for us next season, but this is ifs and buts.

Some of these potential gems will fall by the wayside and cashing it would be perfect. The odd one might flourish and become a superstar. And there in lies the gamble either way!

Haven't read the full thread but why would an 18 year old lad from Horden want to go all the way to Brighton?

And, if the club rate him why would they sell him now, we'd barely get 5 million and they'd reckon his stock will rise and we'd get a lot more in a couple of years time?

Would be a strange transfer.

Hardly a massive blow with regards this season, he’s only made 6 starts! Got a £20m player in his place and Mundle to come back soon aswell.
Sense at last.

If he's develops into something special elsewhere then so be it. We have players ahead of him now and revenue could be better used elsewhere.

Club should be trying to keep this lad right now, every time I've seen him play for us he seems to be one of the few that gets his head up and takes the ball up the pitch.

Absolutely baffles me that people still believe that this is “the way the club act”.

Ignoring all the evidence to the contrary, some of which Wilson himself provides. We rejected bids for him before he was even involve.

How is it baffling to see the club is developing young players to sell for decent money? Your deluding yourself man.

I’ll be a bit gutted if this comes off. Been looking forward to seeing him after watching him in the U21s, and he was looking great until the injury. Surely we can keep him another season and if we go up hold onto him.

I wouldnt be averse to cashing in, especially if he isn’t signing and the price is right, every player isn’t priceless.

Because Brighton see the potential and buy him a hell if a lot cheaper if they get him now as opposed to 12 months time.

He gets to play for a club in a much better position than ours working with quality footballers day in day out. Maybe even sneaking a few prem appearances this season as an 18 year old in their break through season.

He makes it, Brighton make a huge profit. He doesn’t, they probably break even at worst.

Not that’s strange at all in honesty.

Not sure why everyone is getting themselves wound up about this

Yes there is obvious interest if Fabrizio has tweeted it but pretty easy for the club to say no and we will reassess depending on what league we are in next season.
It’s the wording in the tweet. Not ‘interested in signing’, not ‘preparing a bid’, but in talks with club, ie negotiating a sale. I think that’s why people are taking it quite seriously.

Brighton are in talks with Sunderland to sign 18 year old talented winger Tommy Watson.

I don't think we will sell. It depends on the money like but i have a feeling we are going to have to get used to other clubs after our lads. Makes a change to have players other clubs want TBH
