Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Mundle is light years ahead of him and only 3 years older.

He won't even be starting games unless Mundle is unavailable.

We should have snapped Brighton's hands off at £12m in January.
It won't have been 12m. It'll have been 4/5m plus about 3m in add ons that he'd probably never hit.

probably leaked it out as 12m to make us look like big dogs refusing the sell

Spurs reportedly asking £15m for Solomon off Leeds..So thats the Watson money plus £3m . I'd do that deal and it shows whats available for the money if we want to spend it straight away .
If we can do similar realistic value deals for Jobe/Neal and plough it back in theres no reason why we cant easy be top two next year.

As if we'd pay 15m for a player or even reinvest everything we bring in.

well that was supposed to be the model , develop, sell, move up a level in acquisition to make the Prem, sell bigger . 5 year plan wasnt it ? . Tempus fugit ⏰

Would be very disappointing but thinking of it more positively, it’s another academy success story that’ll generate good revenue for us and we got over Clarke leaving and have been no worse off so we can get over Watson. Would prefer he stayed personally though if it was upto me.

Brighton tend to keep at it when they see a player they want… I never felt the deal was going to be completely dead when he didn’t go in January.

So no surprises & I hope it works out well for him. Based upon his last 2 performances he’s treading water now & might as well just stay on the bench for the rest of the season.

We’ve got to accept this is how we now do business. Sadly I see 3 or 4 going in the summer which means our incomings need to hit the ground running next season.

Oh dear how sad never mind.

Of course there'll be the usual lot fuming and going on like Sunderland is the only club this happens to :D
