Few blokes need to get a grip
Half the cups have been scrapped now as well. When I was at murton and we had a canny side I could be out playing 3 nights at times then if double weekend that would be 5 days out the week.
Can you imagine some of the fannies trying to get away with that now.
The song and dance when league had double weekend on Father’s Day was the best! That’s the one day a year a bloke should be able to do what he wants surely.

Short season mate plenty time outside cricket for the garden centre :-)

Never liked double weekends. Us poor bowlers are usually too knackered to do 2 days in a row. Said it before, divisions of 11 over 22 weeks with 2 free Saturdays to keep the wife and kids happy will stop teams putting out weakened XIs and reduce the amount of concessions. Years ago, families would turn up and watch as most lived in the village. That doesn't happen now so lads are having to make more of a commitment. We have to look at reasons why participation is dwindling.

Awww you tired after bowling a few overs. Get a grip marra. You either want to play or not. Balls to the missus, mine knows weekends are made for cricket.

When I first played in the old Senior League I can remember triple-headers on Bank Holiday weekends.

Not so bad for the young 'uns (as I was then) or those without partners and/or families, but absolute hell for the older lads with older legs and more non-cricket commitments.

Also slightly more palatable to a blokes missus if said bloke receives some sort of remuneration from the club he plays for - not so much if he's playing just for the love of the game.

I would have thought on Father's Day a dad might want to spend the day with his child or children, you know the people who he is a father too!!!

For one or two weekends a year? Sorry but blokes need to get a grip if they can’t manage this mind.

Maybe if they out all day every Saturday during the summer, they would like to spend the only other day they have available during the week with their wife and kids, just a thought like!

It was always a question of balance for me I have played loads of sport for years and years but when working all week, been out more or less all day both days of them weekends is tipping the balance too far.
