I reckon people are overthinking this "working with the club" thing. It's a simple fact that without the club's permission there wouldn't be any displays. So it's a necessity.

That was my mate from work's flag. He bought the material for £130 IIRC and got his aunty sew it together to be like the massive flags they had in Italy. I didn't go to home games with him, only aways so I wasn't involved that night.
We took it through St James park 11 days later. It was in a massive hold all and the coppers asked about it at the turnstiles. They said we could take it in but not get it out. Late in the 2nd half I said fuck this let's unfurl it. We managed to collect it afterwards and made our way out at the end. We got pulled by the same coppers
They weren't too bad really and we made our way back to Sunderland.
