Things that annoy you about referees

They allow goalkeepers to take free kicks from anywhere they feel like taking it from. If the foul is made by the corner flag the free kick shouldn't then be taken 10 yards inside the touchline and 10 yards further forward. Same with throw ins

Something id like to see is Refs given the same respect as in Rugby, and it would be so easy to do.

Beginning of the season. Memo to every club at every level.
"This year, the ref will speak ONLY to the players involved in the incident, amd only to explain his decision. Anyone else who approaches the ref, will get a yellow card."

Wed have a few weeks of chaos with games ending with 8 or 9 men, but long term a much better game for it

Def in the ref apologists club but one thing that does annoy me is the decisions based on the reaction of the fouled player, particularly in off the ball incidents. Gabriel's headbutt on Haalsnd was the most blatant red you'll ever see but I knew he wouldn't give it because Haaland didn't throw himself to the floor. No excuse for not giving it.

Its rules more than refs but clear ‘professional’ fouls where a player cannot be arsed to track back and deliberately takes out the player should be a straight red whether dangerous or not. Also, bring back obstruction and stop players simply preventing a player getting to a ball.

The fact that some of them want to be the main show

The best Ref is the one who you dont notice and the ones who actually talk to the players
I watched the Aberdeen game yesterday and I noticed that the ref gave a foul which was contentious at best after not giving the exact same sort of incident at the other end seconds before and the Aberdeen lad just reached out and went to talk to ref while touching the ref's shoulder and the reaction of the ref was comical as if he was copping a good feel. Some refs seem to become less human and think they are above everyone on that pitch, yes the ref is important but it was ok for him to touch a player while explaining something but not the other way round.

Thats what i mean they think they are above being human with the players

A good ref blends in and keeps talking to the players and also smiles as well

The lack of stoppage time being added on at the end of games. The rules changed a few years ago where any time wasting was added onto the end, but this lasted all of about 3 weeks.
I would point this to the people who run the referees and not the actual referees as they are all working on orders when the things occur.
Before Var we complained that referees were not consistent enough therefore introduced Var and they are no better.

When a corner is going to be taken and all the players are jostling with each other they blow their whistle to go and have a chat to tell the players to stop and they are watching.

Don't tell them. Give a penalty and free kick to the the defence depending on what offence is committed, if any.
Spot on.
By preventing the moronic players from breaking the rules the refs are interfering with the game. They’re there to ref what happens not prevent stuff happening. If a club owner is stupid enough to employ Gaffers and DOFs who are stupid enough to employ players who are stupid enough to gan on like they do in the PL at dead ball situations then they all deserve to be finishing games 9v9 etc.

Every incident is different and viewed from a different angle and these fellas are robots programmed all to think the same. Just like places like this opinions will differ from one to the other
The consistency comment from people always cracks me up like.

Logically, if Referee A makes a wrong decision, people would prefer Referee B to also make the same wrong decision just so it's consistent.
No much annoys me about refs . They have a hard job imo.

What does annoy me though is the continuing dramatic playacting by most of the Pro players .

Every tackle and clash has them diving about as if they were shot.

The EFL and Premier needs to tighten up on this on-field cheating behaviour.

End of rant.
This is it.

Everybody involved with the game is dishonest *except* the referee and his assistants.

The players, manager, coaches and fans are all incredibly one-eyed and trying to cheat any advantage they possibly can by any means necessary.

But if a referee isn't 100% perfect, it's absolute sheer dogs abuse. An absolutely thankless job, but people still trot out all the old cliches about them to try and justify their (bias-fueled) hate.

"Just want consistency"
"A good referee shouldn't be noticed"
"They should be made to explain their decisions"
"They think it's all about them"

Apart from the fact the two incidents are usually completely different as well.
