Things that annoy you about referees

Biggest issue for me isn't just with refs.

We have "assistant referees". Very rarely do they actually assist the ref. They should flag fouls they see, and refs should ask their opinion.

Im sick of seeing refs make the wrong decision, while an "assistant referee" had a clear view and either didn't flag or wasnt asked

Soft fouls - the full back foul. All the full back has to do is get in the line of the attacker, fall over and scream loudly. Contact may or may not be made. Irrelevant. Everyone in the ground knows it’s not a foul - probably even the ref. It’s just easier to give it.

Was just about to write this. The full back foul has been the scourge of football for ages

When a player gets fouled and they don't allow the advantage, and then they also prevent the fouled team taking it quickly by fussing over the exact location the foul took place. The advantage is supposed to be with the team that was fouled, not rewarding those that do.

Yep. They'll give that, with little-to-no contact, a completely self-constructed 'foul' on behalf of the defending player who just runs front of the attacker and lifts his legs. Then 5 minutes later a striker gets his shirt ripped off his back and that's deemed 'natural contact'.

When a player goes down and stays down until the ref stops play, why not just continue play, the player whose down will live.

Not when they're shown half a challenge, the bit where contact is made but not when the player got the ball half a second earlier.
This is a major flaw in VAR like. Once they’ve sent the ref to the screen, it’s in the best interests of the bloke in charge of the replays to make sure the decision’s overturned, otherwise he’d look daft for recommending it.

There needs to be a system. Show the replay say three times at full speed from every angle, then the slow motion. Don’t have it paused on the most incriminating frame possible as the ref is walking over then show ultra slow motion replays from one or two angles of a moment without context.
