The Spirit of 37 | Flag renewal campaign

We’re really trying to cater to everyone. There’s not much for fans under 20 as none will have seen us play in the retro kits or watched the club legends.
That really puts how grim it's been in a lot of those years. If you take 7 as an age when kids start to really engage, that means from around 2010... I know Henderson and Pickford have largely made their careers elsewhere but they both played well for us, came through the ranks and have only ever been positive about Sunderland.

Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you to everyone who replied to our thread requesting ideas for new flags for the Roker End. We’ve had some designed and they’ve been posted below.

The aim is to purchase a load of these new designs, renew the stock of current designs (retro strips & badges) which will see us right for the next 5 years.

The current stock has been in use since the 5-4 match v Coventry and is understandably looking tired.

We’ll be getting a load of 2m x 2m (the same as the current ones) plus some huge 5m x 4m ones for the front of the stand.

The fundraising target is £10,000. This is a lot of money, but these don’t come cheap and they will see us doing displays at every home match for the next 5 years at least.

Thank you.

Is there a chance of getting some designs that aren't just photos of ex players?Think the self made stuff and designs such as flag for boro game work best.

Also I've seen a couple of posts on twitter about the request for cash and perhaps a lack of transparency. You'll have seen them yourself, but possibly worth addressing.

Oh and keep up the good work. 👍 The above isn't intended to be negative.

Tell you what I'm not the most positive person in the world but by christ this message board is enough to sap the positivity from anyone.

Not every flag will be the choice of some. But they're asking for suggestions. Pick a player the fans adored, ones that will bring back a happy memory.

And the younger generation won't have a clue who the majority of the suggestions are. O'Nien is a great suggestion. Long servant, has put his body on the line for the club, and loves the place.
