Again I say, the Mags will rip into us when/if we go down anyway.This makes little or no difference.
For years we have had these ***** lording it over us, this is a small victory and hopefully adding to their pain.
I remember Roker Park 1987 versus Gillingham.

I've spoken to a couple of mags over the weekend and they are saying that they actually hope it goes ahead as it will once and for all prove our inferiority complex with them in full view of the whole country. A case of ourselves doing their piss taking for them.

Nah, coming in numbers to one of our games to support the opposition cemented their place as the obsessed/inferior tossers that they are.

But just in case people would forget they produced fanzines dedicated to us, had a blue moon day (for our cup final), made banners about us losing the cup final and continue singing about us ALL THE f***ing TIME :lol:

Don't shoot the messenger mate, just telling yer what they're saying. They were giving me all the "forever in our shadow", "we are your world" shit when discussing it so its fair to assume that that will be their collective comeback jibe.

Apart from record derby win, biggest ever attendance, most recent cup win, more league titles and 5 in a row they are correct about forever in their shadow tbf

Lets be honest here, you might not think the plane ideas funny but even if you thought it was the funniest idea in the world the Mags would still take the piss out of it. It's just the way of the world.

Yon needn't tell me our history mate, I know it but the rest of the country don't and this just gives them a platform to continue their ill founded jibes. By the time it goes ahead it'll be like water off a duck's back anyway. With our current plight, the banner will make us look more stupid than them imo.

You're correct nowt will change apart from us giving them a little more ammunition to bolster their age old jibes. What's worse is, its so long after the fact and without an element of surprise that it'll be like water off a duck's back for them.

Of course it was a case of getting your retaliation in early for them but that's the road they're going to take on it. The ones I know are still hurting bad and I'm more than happy to keep reminding them at every occasion but me taking the piss out of them face to face is not going to come back and bite us all on the arse.
 
If you were to present this idea to say 10 supporters from each of the other 18 premiership clubs, and pose the question:

Given:
a) SAFC's current serious relegation-threatened plight and

b) the fact it's not even a Wear-Tyne Derby record (mags already held that)

you think this sounds like a really smart idea, or do the perpetrators look tragic, obsessed and blatantly more anti-mag than pro-sunderland?

I reckon it they answered truthfully you'd get 160+ saying 'really not a smart idea, you mugs'.

For the record, I was at the gillingham game in '87. It was pathetic on the part of those mags who attended. Doesn't mean that we should seek to pull similar tragic stunts.

And how is that perceived on Wearside? Were we upset? Annoyed? Humiliated? Or did we piss ourselves laughing knowing that we are the centre of their universe?
